Photovoltaic energy is becoming much more popular as the ever increasing rise in energy prices and environmental awareness. The technology has been around since 1839 when first solar voltaic panel was created by Charles Fritts. Fritts coated a semiconductor, selenium, with a very thin layer of gold to form the conduction. This efficiency of this photovoltaic panel was only one percent. Starting in 1988 with new improvements in the industry the efficiency rating rose to seventeen percent. Today most voltaic panels are thirty percent efficient.       The advantages of photovoltaics are tremendous. Photovoltaic energy is limitless considering it is derived from the sun. Solar power is completely pollution free and there is little to no maintenance necessary when using photovoltaic ce...

Capitol Hill Denver Colorado Much of old Denver’s wealthier citizens came here to live in the 1880s and 1890s. Many of the extravagant Victorian, Tudor and Greek Revival mansions still exist. In fact, the home of legendary Titanic survivor, the “unsinkable” Molly Brown still stands on Pennsylvania.Today Capitol Hill offers a wide range of housing types and price ranges from high-rise condos to single-family homes, apartments in historic mansions to lofts in renovated commercial buildings. Walking place or taking a bike is probably the best way to get around as most everything you’d want is close by; restaurants, diners, used bookstores and parks. In fact, you could host a great pub crawl starting at any one of Capitol Hill’s shabby chic dive bars.Wikipedia info about Capitol Hill  Wiki...

A Favorite Denver Photo - Purple Mountains Majesty Independence Day in Denver- 2008 Every now and then I try to post a favorite picture or two of the Denver area.  On the 4th of July, I had dinner in Lakewood at a home with a lovely view with my family. How appropriate that it was our Nation's Birthday.  I believe this is what the the line..."Purple Mountains Majesty" was referring to....     I have to include this one too from the same location - looking at the famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. All those little dots in between the rocks, those are the folks enjoying the Blues Travelers concert at dusk.  I need to go back there with my better camera.   Are you looking for a home in the Denver area with views like this?  Just let me know & we can see what we can do!   ...

My husband is fond of saying, “I’ve got good news and bad news, which one do you want first?” Now, I tell him it’s all news to me, just deliver! I think the Denver real estate market is full of good news and bad news too. About a week ago, I was asked to appear on ABC’s World News Tonight in a story about the real estate market. They told me it was a story stemming from the Case Shiller Report issued earlier that day. Denver was up nearly 1%, so they wanted a broker from Denver in their story. Silly me, I thought it was going to be about the “turning” real estate market. That’s even what the assistant producer said to me on the phone. I gladly participated, and submitted to a lengthy interview. Fun and nerve wracking! Yes, it’s true, the camera does put on an extra 10 lbs. Or maybe thos...

I've lived in Northwest Denver on and off (mostly on) for over 14 years. And yeah, I've been aware the entire time that sections of my beloved 'hood are called "Highlands" (West Highlands, Highlands Square, East Highlands, Potter Highlands, etc.). Never gave it much thought, though. After all, the city next door to me is called "Lakewood" and I've never seen a lake or even a woods there. So, I recently went on a bike ride with some friends along the Platte River. Now, by definition, a "river" tends to be a low spot, as opposed to at the top of a hill. But anyway, I told my friends I'd meet them near the river for our ride. I rode my bike to the appointed meeting spot, cruised around with them for an hour or so, and then headed home. OMG. Up... up... up... Do I live on a friggin' mountai...

Wow, great news!    Denver was listed as #3 in the nation for the least amount of decrease in housing prices!    There were only two cities that fared better - Charlotte, NC and Cleveland, OH.     The reports show Denver had less than 5% decrease in value, and some areas within the Denver metro area showing increased values.   Here are Denver market updates. The reports were from S & P/Case-Shiller as well as Federal Housing Oversight, which stated Boulder county and Washington Park still maintaining or increasing in value. There are more than 1.4 million foreclosed homes for sale nationally, which are seriously impacting the resale ordinary seller. The "90-day rule" for FHA fix n flips has just been changed, in hopes of decreasing this amount of foreclosed homes across the US.     In ...

I have a Flickr account I use a litte, but I know I can do more with it.   Recently though I had an idea to put it to a different use.  Not long ago, Flickr started accepting video as well - it has to be short clips - 90 seconds max I think. Before the example I am about to share with you, my video clips on Flickr had been limited to showing my nephews in Maryland our new puppy.  I had not yet used FLICKR video for business.  That has changed. I have some clients that are relocating to the Denver area.  They are very familiar with the area as they have lived here before.  I am very familiar with their needs & wants & what they like as I have worked with them before.  At this point, they had flown into town on 2 separate occasions but had not yet found "the" house.  With their current ho...

E-Waste represents only 3% of the volume in our nation's landfills, but accounts for 40% of the lead and 70% of the heavy metals. It is against the law for Businesses in Colorado to "Throw Away" electronics, and there is a landfill ban on CRT's. This E-Waste Recycling Event is a Great Way to Be an Advocate In Your Neighborhood
