Denver has the most enthusiastic fans around, and it was very apparent today for the celebration downtown - Parade and Rally at Civic Park to cheer those NUGGETS!   The City painted a BLUE streak just for those players!   Celebrating the Avs last year, they estimated 500,000 out for the celebration, and this year's celebration for the Nuggets was even bigger.    The Broncos in 2015 had 1,000,000 at Civic Park! The weather wasn't too bad, just a few sprinkles.   Did not damper the excitement what-so-ever!   The public started lining the streets of the Parade as early as 5 am!   There were fire trucks from all over the Metro area, so good thing we have had so much rain - they aren't busy!  The players were originally on top of the fire trucks, but came down, and walked along the streets, ...

The game went back and forth, and the Miami Heat had had the lead a lot.   It was a complete nail-biter!Sports bars downtown opened at 1 pm and they were FULL today, and sure many did not work a full day.   Went to the grocery store today and everyone was saying- GO NUGGETS. The Nuggets have had their franchise for 48 years and NEVER had a championship.    This year the team was a TEAM, played together, not as individuals.    THEY WON!   Denver is celebrating, but Denver Police will be on hand, just in case celebrations get out of hand.   When the Avalanche won the championship, the City was in control and celebrated responsibly.     Hope that happens tonight. We are all so proud of our Denver Nuggets! The parade to celebrate these athletes will be on Thursday 6/15/23 starting at Union ...

Cannot say I have ever watched basketball, but seeing the Nuggets possibly winning the NBA championship, the City of Denver has gone BONKERS!   Even at the grocery store -- you heard - GO NUGGETS often!     Tonight, 6:30 pm, Game 5 will start, and Denver is up 3-1 over the Miami Heat.   Will it be the last game?     One can only hope!

In Denver, the majority of the homes you will find do have basements, but there are a few that do not have basements.      Many buyers have "finished basement" on their Wish List.     You can find  -Walk-out basements - the basement has a door to the backyardGarden basements - The windows are at ground levelIn-ground (cellar) basements - full basement below ground    You can find homes with basements that have not been finished, so you can be creative and finish them the way you would like, or you can find basements fully finished.     There is usually a room or space for storage even when the basement is fully finished.    You can find wet bars, exercise rooms, media rooms, wine cellars, 2nd kitchens, and rooms for pool tables.     Need a mancave for the "boys" to watch their games? ...

A Luxury Home can be identified differently in cities across the country, but in Denver, my Luxury blog posts will report on detached single-family homes listed in the Denver metro area for over $1.3 million.  (Over the years I have used $1 million as luxury, but with our rising home values, had the need to increase this amount.)  Some have mountain and/or city views, and some properties back to a golf course, or have water views all to compliment one's lifestyle.  (however, we don't have much water)  Some are updated with products from around the world, and some have expansive square footage or acreage.     Whatever a Buyer is looking for, most likely if you have over $1.3 million, you can find it in Denver or in the surrounding suburbs.     Here is how the luxury market fared for the ...

This month, Debe Maxwell, CRS has asked us to share the fabulous blooms we are seeing this time of year.   Once Old Man Winter FINALLY decided to move on, our weather then turned to torrential rains and hail.   Spring in Denver can take on many different faces. We did have a few flowering trees, but when the last snowstorm blew into town, that was the end of the flowering trees.   There are a few lilac trees in my neighborhood, and they especially smell very fragrant.     We did have a few neighbors will beautiful tulips, but did not get photos of them. At my old home, I would be having the garden tilled to prepare for the planting of the year.   Over the last 4 years, I plant only in pots for my back patio.   But, over the last couple of years, the tomatoes nor the green chiles have do...

Originally known as Decoration Day, it was a day that organized women’s groups left flowers on the graves of our soldiers who valiantly served Our Country. In 1971 this day was changed to Memorial Day and a day we honor and remember our fallen American soldiers. Take a few minutes to reach out to our servicemen and women to thank them for their sacrifices that are real and permanent.    God Bless America! This also is the unofficial start of the summer!

DenverThe stats are out for the month of April, and the numbers reflect a slight decrease in the spring buying season.   The inventory increased slightly from last month but increased 6.6% over last year.   This data is courtesy of Joan Cox - House to Home, Inc. I track data daily for the Denver metro area, and the amount of price reductions has been hovering around 950-1050 each week and homes returning to market have been around 250 per week.   The inventory this time of year is seasonally low, and is around 5,000 during the week, and today saw 5077.   This will be a holiday weekend, so probably lower new listings this weekend.  Last weekend we saw almost 5,500 listings.  (includes land up to high-end homes) See what homes are currently available - Active Homes for sale in Denver Buye...

Wondering what to do this Memorial Day weekend in the Denver metro area?   The weekend weather is looking good, with temperatures from low 70's to 80's, and warm overnight temperatures.   Still a chance for a pop-up rain shower each day.   Be careful if you will be camping over the weekend, as fire danger is still very high.   There are quite a few choices for things to do depending on what you like to do -  Veterans Memorial Day TributeWhen: May 27th   10-12Where: Bethany Lutheran Church - 4500 E. Denver started seeing severe storms Wednesday afternoon when heavy rain, damaging hail, and tornadoes were forecasted.   We don't usually see tornadoes in the City but have had a few over the years.     I know Aurora had sirens going off and had to retreat to the basement for safety.   There was one that touched down out East of Denver. Thursday Denver saw constant rainfall on Thursday and so far today, it hasn't stopped.    The forecasters are saying we have seen nearly 4" of rain so far, and more to come.   We have flooded roads, and some are closed.   We are very arid here, so this rain is very usual.   (if it was colder, we could have gotten way too much snow!) The good part - we were starting to go back into a drought, and pretty sure this will put a good dent in it to fill the res...

Puerto Rico's government closed the only zoo they had after years of animal welfare concerns.    This zoo was a 45-acre location and were allegations of abuse and neglect, and lost its USDA exhibitor license.   More than 300 animals will have to find new homes, and the majority will likely be coming to Colorado. The Wild Animal Sanctuary outside of Keenesberg has more than 700 animals that have been rescued from similar situations.    They are preparing currently, and will be a massive effort.    The sanctuary's founder, Pat Craig, flew to Puerto Rico to examine the situation and has been tasked with finding new homes across the country.   The largest carnivores will be moved to Colorado. The elephants, kangaroos, storks, porcupines, rhinos, and chimpanzees will be placed elsewhere along ...

This has happened over the years .....  Listed a townhome, and was standing out front talking to the Seller, and a neighbor stopped and wanted my card.  She had planned to sell in 6 months, and she called, we listed, and SOLD. Another neighbor called me and inquired as to the price it was listed, as she was thinking of selling too.   So far, they haven't called to sell yet.   With both of the neighbors having the exact same property - style, square feet, year built, etc. the research was already done.    The condition was different and easy to do the adjustments!    ALWAYS be visible to the neighbors when you are getting ready to list a property, as you never know how many around will want to list too!    In our market, we could use more listings!

We have experienced 60's to 80's over the last month, so Spring wanted to arrive in Denver.  We got spoiled with the nice warm temperatures, but sure would be nice to have these temps for a whole week!   Many homeowners have turned sprinklers on, since we have had to hand water the grass, trees and shrubs for a couple of months.Again, Saturday almost the entire day was snowing.  Luckily, it was only accumulating on the grass, and did get about 4", but the streets remained wet.  Tuesday and Wednesday we are expecting either rain or snow.   The mountains close to Denver are expecting up to TWO FEET. Luckily, pansies are hardy plants, and so are my chives and made it through Saturday. Homeowners need to remember, if you hook hoses back up, it is a good idea to unhook them when finished.  ...

Over the past decade, 18 states plus DC have legalized marijuana for recreational use.    4/20 has been a day that has been recognized as a national Holiday for cannabis culture. When police officers say "420", it means marijuana smoking is in progress". The true meaning behind 4/20 started in Marin County CA, in 1971 when five students at San Rafael High School would meet at 4:20 pm by the campus' statue of chemist Louis Pasteur to partake.   They chose that specific time because extracurricular activities had usually ended by then.   This group became known as the "Waldos" because they at met all a wall. In past years in Denver, Civic Center Park was the place where everyone goes on 4/20 to smoke pot outdoors.   This is the biggest unsanctioned smoke outs in the nation.   This year, I...
