Green Means GO...Just Another Day in Cow TownMoooove it on over. Green means go and the cows know which way to head. It was just another day on Main Street. Nobody gets too excited when they see a herd of cows heading down the road. This bunch was pretty well behaved, too. This is what causes our traffic jams in Cedaredge. I actually got stuck in this one, and then took a side street to come out ahead of the herd.  Cedaredge, CO is a great place to call home. It's a small mountain town at the base of Grand Mesa and the Grand Mesa National Forest. This is small town living at it's best. If you would like more information about Cedaredge, please give me call. I look forward to hearing from you. I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over 26 years. I love this area and all it has to of...

It's A Cowboy Christmas...2015 Cedaredge Area Parade of Lights Ho, Ho, Ho and Merry Christmas...Santa Claus is coming to town. It's time for the annual Cedaredge Area Parade of Lights. Where else can you get fire trucks, ambulances (all with sirens blaring), horses, dogs, people and people in golf carts and a marching band together and everyone is having a great time. Well it's the Cedaredge Area Parade of Lights of course. Mark your calendar for Saturday, December 5th. Santa has things planned a bit differently this year. He's arriving before the parade, at 4:00, and will be on Main Street to visit with everyone in town. This is a great time to get your picture taken with Santa. He's going to be there until 5:00 and then it's time for him to get ready for the parade. The parade starts ...

Show Us Your Home for the Holidays Season 2...December ContestRemember this contest from last year? It's a fun and easy one, and now it's back for a second year. All you have to do is share a holiday scene from your home, your neighborhood or your community and write a little something about the scene. Try to get in around 200 words, but I'm not counting. All we need is one picture, but feel free to share more if you would like. Videos are fun, too, and they will also count for this contest. Don't over think this, and the picture doesn't have to be of your home unless you want to share one of your home. Think of the word 'home' in a broad way. Cedaredge is my hometown. I'm sharing a picture of a neat display from a house on Main Street in my hometown. Does your town or city decorate a p...

Look Up In The Sky It's A...Now That's A KiteThis is no ordinary kite. You can see from the second picture how big this foil kite is. I was told, but forgot the dimensions. Compare it to it's pilot who's about 5'7". These pictures were taken on Thanksgiving Day. I was gathered with several good friends of mine. Anthony Prough is the pilot. Kite flying isn't a tradition for any of us on this particular day, but maybe it will be one now. Although conditions have to be just right to even launch this thing. You have to have a fairly stiff breeze of probably at least eight miles an hour. These kites are more technical than you think. These aren't like the old kites you can buy at any department store, put together in minutes and fly. I have done some stunt kite flying, but not for many years...

A Thanksgiving MoonThis full moon is a beautiful sight tonight. The clouds in the thinning daylight stand out really well with the moon. The Thanksgiving Holiday is almost here. I hope everyone is winding down and beginning to enjoy time with friends and family. Scenes like this are one, are one of the many things for which I have to be thankful. I'm working late and stepped outside and saw the moon coming up. I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over 25 years. I love this area and all it has to offer, and I enjoy sharing what I know about my home. As a REALTOR®, I also love to share my expertise in this area as well. If you need any real estate information for Montrose County, or Delta County, Colorado...please give me a call.

Now You See it, Now You Don't...Friday FotoWhether or not you want it, there is always weather happening. That's just one of many sayings I hear about Colorado weather. Wait five minutes and the weather will change...is another popular saying. This is so very true. Even during the summer months, I always have a jacket in my car. You never know when you might need one. I've been snowed on every month of year in Colorado. Yes even during the summer months. In July and August a quick snowstorm can feel very refreshing. Those summer snows usually come at the higher elevations over 8,000. Monday the Cedaredge area received a decent snowfall, but now it's almost gone. It was about three to four inches of very wet snow. That's the way winter is around here. It snows one day and melts off quick...

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow...A Cedaredge SnowThat's how it usually goes around here. The snow comes and quickly leaves. We had another extremely heavy, wet snow last night. It's really beginning to look a lot like winter, but soon the snow will melt off the ground. It's already gone from the roads. Later this week temperatures are suppose to get in the mid 40s and we might even hit 50 degrees by Saturday. That will be some great high school football playoff weather. Now that's a bit warm for this time of year, but I'm not complaining. At least the snow will stay higher up where it belongs. The GM Nordic Council has the cross country ski trails groomed and open. The storms do provide some great photo opportunities. I took a short drive this afternoon to see what I could see. It was beauti...

Affordable Homes for Sale Cedaredge Estates Nov 2015 Real Estate InformationCedaredge Estates is one of those neighborhoods that people love to call home. There has been very little for sale and sold over the year. There are no thru streets and traffic is light. The neighborhood sits on the edge of town and is bordered on the east by farmland, but yet it is only minutes to town. The neighborhood features mainly ranch style homes. Here's a look at the current listings and sales activity so far for 2015: There is one active listing. It's a two bedroom home priced at $127,500. One home sold this year for $124,898. It is also a two bedroom home.  While two bedroom homes seems to be where the market is for this neighborhood, that isn't really the case. In Cedaredge Estates three bedrooms hom...

Powderhorn Mountain Resort is Preparing for the 2015/2016 Ski SeasonOpening day is set for December 17th, but there are rumors the resort may open early. Mother Nature is cooperating so far. Two snowstorms in the last week have dumped a lot of snow in the area, and the resort is making snow, too. If the weather predictions hold true for this winter, this could be one of the best snow years in quite a while. The resort has a full calendar of activities planned for the upcoming season. Check out the Powderhorn website for details. Nestled on the northern side of Grand Mesa, the resort has a lot to offer skiers without the long lift lines of the more well known ski areas. There are 63 trails and 3 terrain parks. The longest run is 1.8 miles, and there's a vertical drop of 1650 feet. Powder...

My Wallpaper...Cedaredge After the StormI have to thank Dick Greenberg for hosting the, "Show Us Your Wallpaper" contest this month. I was still using the wallpaper stock setting that came on my laptop, but because of this contest I decided to change that. This is a picture I took several years ago while driving to work. It's the view of Cedaredge after a big snowstorm. Some of you have seen this picture before. I've used it as a Christmas card and in at least one other post. There is a story behind this picture, and I don't think I've ever shared it.I was taking my daughter to school, and then heading into the office. On the way down into town, I noticed the lighting and the fog that had settled around town. It looked pretty neat. I didn't stop to take a picture. The roads were slicker...

Our First Snow of the Season and We Are PowerlessMore than several inches of wet snow fell on Cedaredge in the early morning hours. The temps hovered just above freezing. A lot of snow fell, but only about four inches stayed on the ground. It's almost noon and the cleanup is still going on. This is one of the wettest snows I've ever seen, and there's a lot of it. All over the area falling tree branching are knocking out the power and blocking roads. All of Main Street is without power. It's been that way since about 10am. A large elm tree split in half and fell across West Main Street close to the town limits. That blocked traffic at that end of town. A large branch somewhere in the area of the Dollar Store fell and somehow started a small fire. These are the stories I'm hearing from pe...

Scenes from the 2015 Cedaredge Dog JogThe fourth annual Cedaredge Dog Jog and Pet Palooza was held on Halloween day. Of course all of the dogs and their people had a fun time. You could participate in either a one or a two mile walk/run. After that there was a costume contest with several different categories and a best trick contest. The dog maze was back this year, and so were the Alpacas. Aspen Trails Campground served up a great lunch at the end of it all. The campground is a nice place to hold this event, and Grand Mesa provides a wonderful backdrop. Everyone got a t-shirt, and the dogs got a bandanna. The fall weather was beautiful...just a bit cold in the morning, but the day warmed up quickly.Lucky and I did the one mile walk. We even took a shortcut. Actually we got lost and en...

Foto Friday...The View From Above and BelowCedaredge is at about 6200 feet in elevation. The Grand Mesa has places where the elevation is over 11,000 feet. So in Cedaredge we are always looking up at the mesa, and while on the mesa we can get some great views of the valley below. You can see the orchards, hay fields, homes and roads. It's a pretty amazing view. The first picture was taken from the side of Grand Mesa and it shows the Surface Creek Valley and beyond. On a clear day you can see The Black Canyon and past Montrose to the San Juan Mountains. From the valley we have many different views of the mesa, and the scenery changes when the weather changes. The mesa doesn't have a bad side. It always looks good. All the rain we had yesterday translated to snow by that afternoon on Gran...
