They're GRRREAT!!!! Cedaredge High School  Moves Forward in The State Playoffs. The Cedaredge, Colorado Bruins football team is moving forward in the Colorado Division 1A Playoffs. They beat the Centauri Falcons 55-14 in a well played game. The Cedaredge, CO Bruins are the boys in blue.   The team got off to a slow start and had to work through some game day jitters, but by the end of the second half it was clear the boys were on track and going to dominate the game.   The team's next game is next week at home against Monte Vista. Today's weather was absolutely perfect with highs in the mid 60s. I hope it holds for next weeks game.   Let's all be there and cheer the team on to another playoff victory. GO BRUINS. Take down the date and time for the 1st annual Stars & Strips Military Ball in Cedaredge, Colorado.   The date is November 10th, 2012 at the Stolte Packing Shed. Dinner is served first starting at 6:30 and the dancing will start around 7:30. The attire is semi-formal and all military personnel...past and present are asked to wear their uniforms.   Cathy Meskel is planning this event mostly on her own. She does have support from a few other people in town, but mainly this is something she wants to do to show her support and appreciation for what our military do for our country. The Cedaredge High School Bruins Football Team Scores Big. Last Friday was more than a win for the Cedaredge High School Bruins Football Team. The boys scored big and dominated Paonia 46-6. This win showed the team's on field dominance and confidence. The team had already clinched the league title with 8 wins and only 1 loss on the season. The first playoff game is this Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the Bruin's home field in Cedaredge. Kickoff is at 1PM. The Bruins will face the Centauri Falcons. Lil Goblin BOO Fest, Red Mountain Ranches, Cedaredge, Colorado. Who knows what lurks in the dark shadows of the haunted orchard. The Boys Are Back In Town...The 2012 Tour/Hunters Delight. Just as I was turning into my driveway, this sight caught my eye. There were 3 large bucks eating apples in my neighbors orchard. They didn't like me intruding on their dinner time and they played a bit camera shy, but I managed to get a few pictures anyway. Deer love apples. We had a box of them sitting on our deck in the shade. This morning I opened the door to let the dog out, and there was a buck almost as big as this one right at the back door eating our apples. Both the buck and I were startled to see each other. The dog didn't care, but he wasn't going to go out there with that set of antlers staring at him. The Western Colorado Skies Put on Another Great Show. These picture were taken on Cedar Mesa just outside of Cedaredge, Colorado. Cedar Mesa is an area just outside of Cedaredge, Colorado. The mesa rises several hundred feet above town and then gently slopes down in elevation to the south. It rises up in elevation as it heads up to Grand Mesa...the focal point of this great valley. On Cedar Mesa you get that mountain feel, yet are only a few miles from Cedaredge. Deer, elk, turkey, fox and bobcats are frequent visitors, and occasionally you will see a bear or a mountain lion. The views are everywhere around you. Cedaredge High School Bruins Homecoming Parade, Cedaredge, Colorado. Participants and watchers of the 2012 Cedaredge High School Bruins Homecoming Parade, had to brave the rain and cold temperatures, but they pulled it off in typical small town style. The kids were a little disappointed with their floats, but there wasn't much they could do. All day it had been raining on and off...mostly on and really hard. Check out this video of the parade. Cedaredge, Colorado is a small mountain town at the base of The Grand Mesa National Forest. There are about 1800 people in the town. Of these 1800 people, 249 of them go to Cedarege High School. Scenes From The 35th Annual AppleFest, Cedaredge, Colorado. After 35 years this small mountain town still hosts its annual AppleFest and the event just keeps getting bigger every year. Originally a Saturday only event, AppleFest now takes over the whole, first, full weekend in October for the residents of Cedaredge, Colorado.There's a 5K fun run to start things off on Saturday morning. Shortly after that the music gets started on the main stage in Town Park. My husband Dan Morgan, has been the first person to perform every year for the last 8 years. Over 10,000 people are expected to visit Cedaredge over the weekend. That's a pretty big deal considering the town only has about 1800 residents. No there isn't a zero missing...that should read 18 hundred residents. We enjoy our small town ... 10/06/2012

AppleFest, Cedaredge, Colorado...It's Almost Here, AppleFest 2012. It's less than a week away, and everyone is talking about what they will be doing AppleFest Weekend. It's always the first full weekend in October on Saturday and Sunday. There are events that start on Thursday like the Chili Cook off to support our local volunteer fire department, and The Golden Gala on Friday night at the Cedaredge Community Center, but the town really comes alive on Saturday morning.   The AppleFest 5K starts bright and early at 7:30. Shortly after the runners and walkers cross the finish line, the music will start on the town park stage. Scenes From The Dog Jog...Cedaredge, Colorado. This was an event to raise money for the Cedaredge, Colorado NO KILL animal shelter. For a small town, this shelter does great things. The event was a lot of fun. I was there with Bear...The Wonder Horse Dog.   We got things started with a meet and greet session. This was a great way to get all the dogs settled down. They were very excited about the event and the prospect of seeing old friends and making new ones. As you can see there were dogs of all shapes and sizes. The little guy in the corner walked the almost 3 mile course. Every bit of it.               About 24 people turned out for the event. Wordless Wednesday...Scenes From A Fall Morning, Cedaredge, Colorado. The last few days have brought in some much needed rain and some great photo opportunities. This morning the sun was out for just a bit before more clouds rolled in. I was lucky enough to catch this brief reflection of the sun off Grand Mesa. The picture doesn't do the scene justice. Grand Mesa is a glow with fall colors right now, and the sun was hitting it just right and made the yellow color even more brilliant.   Grand Mesa is the world's largest flattop mountain. It's The First Weekend of Fall and It's Apple Time in Delta County, Colorado. It's that time of year when the leaves are changing into their fall colored wardrobe and the nights are getting colder. The harvest festivals are upon us and the apples are hanging red, green and yellow on the trees. The apple season is here, and the harvest has just begun. You don't even have to know where to go to find apples. They will find you. I was on the back roads earlier today when I saw this local orchard open for business. Many of the area fruit stands are still open and selling apples. The cooler nighttime fall temperatures help to set the sugars in the apples. 2012 AppleFest 5K Run and Fitness Walk...Cedaredge, Colorado. The deadline to make early bird registration and save some money is October 1, 2012. Early registration is $20. You can enter the 5K run or the 2.5 mile fitness walk. This year everyone that enters before the October 1st deadline will get a wicking running shirt. The event starts bright and early at 7:30 AM October 6th. The AppleFest 5K Run and Fitness Walk...Cedaredge, Colorado, is organized by Boy Scout Troop 482. This is the fourth year for the event and the fourth year the Boy Scouts have helped organize it. This event is a great fund raiser for the boys and helps them earn money for camp outs and equipment.
