It Was A Great Game...Too Bad About The Ending, Though. I really thought The Denver Broncos had what it took to go all the way this year, but it wasn't meant to be. The game started off great and fans had high hopes when Trindon Holliday returned a punt and scored on The Broncos first possession.   Holliday should be the MVP for The Denver Broncos. He returned that punt for 90 yards and a touchdown in the first quarter and then returned a 104 yard kick in the third quarter for another touchdown. But a win wasn't in The Broncos future. It was a close game from the beginning. The Broncos would score and then The Ravens would score. They traded scores the whole game. The Bronco's season ended tonight in the AFC playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens. It took two overtimes for the Ravens...

My family is traveling for Christmas, but we didn't want this day to go by unnoticed. My daughter and I worked on this card last night. It was a fun mother and daughter project, and it comes from our hearts. I took this pricture earlier this year, and we thought it would make the perfect Christmas Card. On this special day may you find Peace on Earth, Good Will Towards Men. Have a wonderful day.     Debbie, Dan and Sierra Cedaredge, Colorado Christmas 2012

Everything is Moving a Bit Slower Than Usual. Or maybe I should say, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. While we only got a few inches of snow, it's enough to make driving dangerous. The falling snow really boosted my Christmas Spirit. I always look forward to the first couple of snowfalls every year. We are experiencing a winter drought in my area of Western Colorado. Our snow packs are way behind normal, and we need the water to fill the lakes and reservoirs for next year's irrigation water and drinking water. So I'm not complaining...just explaining.   I know you all in Minnesota got quite a bit more snow than we did, but when it covers the roads like this, it doesn't matter how much is on the ground...it's still dangerous driving. Plus it's cold. It was only 10 degrees thi...

It Was A Nice Fire Truck Parade...Cedaredge High School Celebrates State Championship. That how we do things here in Cedaredge. We bring out all the fire trucks and parade them down Main Street. This parade was in honor of our State Champion Football Team. The team got a ride on the trucks and most of the people in town took a break from what they were doing to show their support. You can't hear all the clapping, because the sirens are so loud. Several years ago, The Cedaredge Bruins came close to a state championship, but had to settle for second place. This year the team went all the way. It's the first ever state championship for our football team. The town is really behind these young men and there are congratulation signs up all over town.        One of Grand Junction's TV stations...

The Cedaredge Bruins Win The Colorado State Football Championship. The Cedaredge High School Bruins took an early lead at 12-0, but the scoring was back and forth after that. The final score was 18-12. This is for the Colorado Division 1A Title. Way to go Bruins. You're the 2012 Colorado State Champions. That's going to be one nice bus trip back home to Cedaredge. The Bruins played Buena Vista in Buena Vista. The team worked hard for this honor, and it's well deserved. The bus will be arriving at Cedaredge High School around 8PM, and the town will be there to greet our state champions.   Thanks to the Cedaredge Bruins High School Football Team for giving us another reason to be proud to live in beautiful Cedaredge, Colorado. GO BRUINS!!!!! I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over...

The game starts at 1PM. This is the Big One, the one for the trophy and bragging rights. The Cedaredge Bruins have a great running and passing game. Quarterback, Dante Markley has thrown for 1278 yards this season with 16 touchdowns and he's run for 563 yards with 10 rushing touchdowns. The defense also presents a strong front and is tough for anyone to get by.   The Cedaredge High School Bruins Football Team is Looking to Win Big against Buena Vista. Aspen Trails Campground,  Is More Than Just Your Everyday Campground. Aspen Trails Campground is located about three miles north of Cedaredge, Colorado along Highway 65. Nestled at the base of Grand Mesa, the world's largest flat top mountain, Aspen Trails Campground is NOT your everyday campground. Aspen Trails Campground has a gift shop with locally crafted gifts. There's also a deli and an ice cream shop. The ice cream is the best around, and the sandwiches are fantastic, too. The locals often take their lunch break at Aspen Trails Campground just to enjoy a great sandwich. I try to stay away from the ice cream, because I don't want to get addicted to it. At Aspen Trails Campground you can do more than camp. There are tent spaces available, but there are also large RV spaces with ful...

With this event, the Christmas season is officially underway in the Cedaredge area.   Just before 6PM anxious children and their parents line the street. Soon you hear the sirens blaring and the music playing, and you know the parade is underway. Homemade floats make their way down Main Street in Cedaredge, CO...each with its own Christmas theme. Heckel and Jeckel Go To Camp...or Bear and Jazzy go to the kennel. While we are on vacation our dogs are getting a vacation of sorts, too, but I'm sure they don't look at it that way. They get to stay at Happy Tails Pet Lodge for a week. The dynamic duo didn't pose too well for this picture. They were both a bit worked up about what was going on and distracted as well. Jazzy is the dog that was dumped in our rural area five years ago. Bear is the beast on the right. Bear is not quite a year old, and Jazzy is somewhere between 7 and 9 years old. We'll never know about her past except she was badly abused and she's come a long way with her trust issues since we took her in. She was also never allowed in a house. The first day we got her off the street, it took three of us to get her in th...

Cedaredge Bruins Are Going to the State Football Championship Game. The Cedaredge, Colorado High School Football Team won its playoff game in grand fashion and will advance to the final game of the state playoffs. The boys in blue beat the Hotchkiss Bulldogs, who also put on a fine show. Both Cedaredge and Hotchkiss are in Delta County.   The final score was 16-12. The Bulldogs had homefield advantage, but that wasn't enough to stop the Cedaredge Bruins. The Bruins were playing without their starting quarterback who was out with an injury. Cedaredge and Hotchkiss are both small towns and in division 1A.   Out of four high school football teams in Delta County, three of them made it to the state playoffs. Besides Cedaredge and Hotchkiss, the Delta Panthers also made it to the playoffs in...

The Cedaredge High School Bruins Face a Big State Playoff Football Game...that's this weekend against the Hotchkiss Bulldogs in Hotchkiss at 1PM. Both schools are in Delta County and have played outstanding football this year. This is normally a big rivalry, but it just got bigger with the state championship division 1A game on the line. In the regular season, Cedaredge beat Hotchkiss, but only by one point. Both teams won big last week. Cedaredge shut out Monte Vista and Hotchkiss took a mid game lead against Limon and never let go. This picture was taken at last week's game. Cedaredge has the blue uniforms. The weather turned to winter, but this weekend the skies should be clear with temps in the mid 50s. That's perfect football weather.   Cedaredge High School is putting together a S...

More State Playoff Action Ahead For The Cedaredge, CO Bruins Football Team. The Cedaredge High School Bruins shut out Monte Vista on a windy, cold and often times snowy football field. The game was also well attended by visiting Monte Vista fans. The final score was 18-0. The fans were just as rugged as the team and very few of them left at half time when the score was still only 6-0 and it was anybody's game. This is the first winter weather we've experienced this season. The stands were lined with parka clad fans wrapped up in blankets sipping hot chocolate, but the weather didn't do anything to minimize the enthusiasm. It seemed that more people attended this game than last week's game where the temps were in the low 60s. In looking back, that was quite balmy compared to today's wea...

The Cedaredge High School Football Team is Gearing Up for Another Playoff Game. The game is in Cedaredge giving The Bruins home field advantage. It starts at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 10th, and is against Monte Vista. This is the second playoff game for The Bruins in Colorado's division 1A. Last week the stands were packed, so get there early to get a prime seat. Bring your umbrella, there's an 80% chance of rain.   Last week The Bruins won big against the Centauri Falcons. 55-14 was the final score. The Bruins are the boys in blue.   GO BRUINS!!!!!!       I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over 22 years. I love this area and all it has to offer. I'm a real estate broker, and I also love to share my expertise in this area as well. If you need any real estate information for M...

One Thing I'm Thankful For Keeps Me Warm and Wanting To Come Home. No this isn't one of my treasured pets, or my husband. Sorry Dan, but you can't do the job this thing does. This thing had been on my wish list for a couple of years. This special thing was a gift from someone that didn't have time to appreciate it's benefits. It's my hot tub.   This was a gift from the neighbor, of a seller, that I've gotten to know. He's a neat guy and only lives in the area part time. His wife is pretty cool, too.  He gave me the hot tub, and just wanted to see someone have it that would enjoy it. It really is the gift that keeps on giving. I love soaking and watching the moon rise over our mountains, and I love a relaxing Sunday afternoon soak, when I know there's no more work to be done for the rest...

Let's Have a Drum Roll For...The Cedaredge, Colorado High School Marching Band. These kids have done an outstanding job and were just awarded their second consecutive Colorado Marching Band State Championship Title. This is for division 1A schools. This is an honor well deserved for these hard working teenagers. They've put in over 250 hours of practice so far this year, and have played at many school functions and during half time of the home football games. In the last ten years, Cedaredge High School has taken state honors for marching band five times. The first year was 2002, followed by 2003, 2005, 2011 and now this year. Last year the school set a record for having the smallest band to win a state championship. There were 21 marching band members last year. This year the band brok...

The Top 10 Signs You Live In A Rural Area during hunting season. Living in a rural area has its advantages, and disadvantages, during hunting season.   10) Your real estate signs are still used for target practice and this becomes more frequent around hunting season. "Hey Bud, see if you can hit the letter R on that sign over there." 9) Your child's school schedule is made so fall break happens during prime hunting season. 8) All the deer coming running to your yard, because it's hunting season, and they KNOW you won't shoot them. ( at least at my house, and I think the deer have us on their list of safe places ) 7) The three restaurants you have in town are closed on the weekend and two of them are also closed on Monday. One or all of them may even close for longer if the hunting is re...
