It's that time of year when you go to your closet and pull out your wide brimmed cowboy hat (unless you already wear one year round), and dust off the cowboy boots. It's time for The Cedaredge Little Britches Rodeo. The 2013 event will take place starting on Friday, July 12th. It will run all weekend. Participants and visitors travel from near and far. The Town of Cedaredge makes everyone feel welcome with a parade at noon on Saturday. That's right after the Lion's Club BBQ which starts at 11:00. This picture was taken early on Friday evening. Main Street Cedaredge Colorado is Getting a New Look. Pardon our dust, excuse our mess and please use the back door. Main Street businesses will remain open during this summer's construction, and those that have a public accessible back area are asking customers to use it. Starting July 15th, 2013 Main Street Cedaredge will be down to one lane traffic. This date marks the beginning of the Main Street Beautification Project. The ground breaking ceremony was today, and it was well attended. Afterwards Main Street Businesses held a block party to let everyone know they will still be open during the construction. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Newest Restaurant in Cedaredge Colorado. The Wagon Wheel had it's official Grand Opening today. Patrece and Al Reed opened the restaurant in April, but today was the official Grand Opening day. The restaurant is a wonderful addition to the Main Street businesses of Cedaredge. A crowd of Main Street business owners and loyal patrons turned out to show their support of the new restaurant.   Things to do in Cedaredge, CO Surface Creek Walking Trail. Beat the heat and follow the creek...the Surface Creek Walking Trail. This wooded trail is a nice distraction from the summer sun and heat. Surface Creek Walking Trail runs for almost two miles and parallels the creek the entire way. It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas...Spring In Colorado. I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for 23 years, and I can't recall a spring quite like this one. Last night the snow line came down to about 7500 feet. We are no strangers to spring snowstorms, but this year has been very unusual. This is what I saw as I drove into town this morning. You can see the trees are barely starting to green up and look at the snow line on Grand Mesa. We are accustomed to getting late spring snows, but not so many in a row, and certainly not this much rain. The 2013 spring season has so far been unseasonably cool and wet. We need the moisture. NEW Restaurant The Wagon Wheel, Cedaredge, CO. The restaurant opened about two weeks ago, and all of the locals are happy to support the new restaurant and it's owners. The Wagon Wheel is the new restaurant that is in the place of the old Apple Orchard Restaurant. Patrece and Al Reed are the owners of The Wagon Wheel. They spent over 3 weeks remodeling the location before opening. The change is wonderful and has given the old spot a great new look. It's western themed throughout right on down to the aprons. Thunder Mountain 5K and 10K Walk/Run...Cedaredge, CO. The Fun Walk/Run is sponsored by the Cedaredge Rotary Club and it's a fund raising event. The run is on Saturday, June 1, 2013 and it starts at 8AM. The Thunder Mountain 5K and 10K Walk/Run will help the Cedaredge Rotary Club raise money so it can continue to provide scholarships, dictionaries for the elementary school children, and community grants. Spring Break, A Time to Stop and Smell the Roses...Or Sweet Peas in this Case. While some parents are moaning because our kids are out of school next week for spring break, I'm looking forward to this time. It's so easy to get caught up in the routines that a regular schedule brings, and I look forward to breaking out of the routine. I always look forward to the school breaks. It's nice to have a leisurely morning without having to rush out the door to get somewhere on time. There won't be any homework to do at night, and I'm really looking forward to that break. WHEW...I hate homework. You see when my daughter is in school, it's like I'm in school. One thing I considered when getting into real estate was having some flexibility with my time. Last Snow of the Season...Only Mother Nature Knows for Sure. Our Cedaredge, Colorado weather can be very unpredictable. Everyone always says, it you don't like the weather wait five minutes and it'll change. After wearing shorts and sandals over the weekend, it was difficult to adjust to the recent weather changes. This last spring storm took a lot of people by surprise. We've been hearing about snow storms all winter, but we never got any big storms. This one was different. It started out with a lot of rain on Monday and then turned to snow on Tuesday. This forsythia bush is all ready for spring too, but I don't think the snow is going to hurt it. The Wagon Wheel...New Restaurant Cedaredge, CO. Everyone is anxiously waiting for the new restaurant to open. There's been a flurry of activity at the place for the last couple of weeks. The new owners have been busy remodeling and updating the restaurant. The Wagon Wheel Restaurant is set to open on April 11th in Cedaredge, CO. The new restaurant is going into where The Apple Orchard Restaurant use to be. It will be neat to see the old restaurant get a new look.   Powderhorn Mountain Resort, Beach Party Closing Weekend. Say goodbye to the ski season and hello spring. That's this weekend, March 30th and 31st, 2013.
