Snow, Sun, Wind, Rain, More Snow...A typical Colorado Spring or NOT! It's often said if you don't like the weather in Colorado...wait five minutes and it will change. Well this spring has seen a lot of weather changes for us on the Western Slope, but none of them have been warm temperatures. We've seen couple of days in the last month where temps got to around 70 degrees, but then the weather quickly changes for the colder. On Mother's Day Cedaredge received around 5 inches of snow. North of town, around Aspen Trails Campground, got around 8 inches, and in the last several days, the Grand Mesa has gotten at least 15 inches of new snow. Pioneer Town Set to Open for The Season...Things to do in Cedaredge CO. Mark Saturday, May 24th on your calendar. That's when Pioneer Town will open for the 2014 season. The hours are 10AM to 4PM. This should be a fun filled day for the whole family.  The Cedaredge Pioneer Town has 25 buildings authentically set up to display how life was around 100 years ago. Tour the buildings and check out the displays. Listen for the the sounds of horses traveling the town's dirt streets. You will also hear the clang, clang, clang of the blacksmith's hammer as he shows everyone how a real blacksmith worked many years ago. 2014 Summer Time Kick Off Events in Cedaredge, Colorado Information. Summer is just around the corner and there's going to be plenty to do in town. Here's a list of upcoming events in Cedaredge. There's a lot going on just during the month of May. The Cedaredge Farmer's Market is happening. It's already started and will run every Saturday from 9AM-1PM through September 27th. Designated Tree City USA for 20th Year...Cedaredge, CO Information. That's right for the 20th year in row, Cedaredge has received the Tree City USA Designation. The town has a volunteer tree board that helps keep the designation coming back year after year.  What is Tree City USA? There are certain criteria that communities must meet to be a Tree City USA. The distinction is given to cities that show a commitment to urban forestry. Here are the four criteria.  A local tree community, board or organization.  A tree care ordinance. A community forestry program with a budget of at least $2 per capita. An arbor day proclamation and observance.  Cedaredge has met all of the above criteria for the last 20 years. 2014 Cedaredge Easter Egg Hunt. The annual Surface Creek Lion's Club Easter Egg Hunt is set for April 19th, 2014. The hunt will take place at the usual place at the Church by the old elementary school. It starts at 10am. This Cedaredge tradition has been going on for at least 15 years.  The Surface Creek valley Lions Club is very active in the community. Every year the group helps with the Delta County Memorial Health Fair. The club also does vision screening for pre school aged children. The club also does various fundraisers throughout the area so it can support projects like the Easter Egg Hunt and the Health Fair. If It Ain't Tied Down It's Gone...Spring Winds Cedaredge Colorado. High winds are common in the spring in Cedaredge and all along the Western Slope of Colorado. But the power and force of them never ceases to amaze me. Gusts up to 60 mph are common. We hit that this afternoon.  While the pictures don't convey the force of the wind, they do show something else. The sky is that odd color because of all the dirt in the air. This first picture is looking west out of town on Main Street. Normally you get a pretty good view of Grand Mesa from here, but you can't see anything.  I was on my patio when I heard the winds coming. It was already pretty windy, but the real turbulence was yet to come. My Favorite Things About Spring. I would have to say that spring and fall are my favorite seasons. I love watching the seasons transition from winter to summer and summer to winter. I love the drastic changes that spring and fall bring to the weather and the landscape. With spring quickly approaching us...even here in the Rocky Mountains, I will focus on what I love about spring.  Spring is a time of miracles. It never ceases to amaze me how plants can lay underground, underneath all that snow and cold, and still come back bigger and stronger every year. Fire it up and get moving...These four women jam and they are bringing their unique bluegrass sound to The Appleshed on Saturday, March 15, 2014. The band is based out of Boulder, CO and they have a HOT sound all their own! Crock Pots For Critters A Cedaredge CO Animal Shelter Fundraiser. This was the first year for this animal shelter fundraiser, and I hope the group does it again. There was an amazing turnout.  The line was out the door. This was the scene within an hour of the dinner starting. The line continues inside all the way through the building.                  The food was worth the wait. There were so many food donation. Everything from salads, breads, rolls, ribs and chili dishes. The wait in line was worth it. Fill a plate and bowl with whatever you could fit on it, eat and then do it all over again. Crock pots were set aside to reserve food for those people still waiting in line.    Donations of pet food and cat litter were coming in by the armload. Between the ticket sales and the donation... 02/08/2014

Yesterday Was A Crappy Day At The Office. When you work for a full service real estate office you'd better take your coveralls to work. That's what I told Perry and Austin. Perry owns Cedaredge Land Company. Austin is a broker in our office. Perry got a call from a buyer he sold a house to. It's a nice home on the golf course. There was raw sewage in the crawl space and the house smelled horrible. The homeowner wanted help NOW! I could hear the frantic homeowner even though he wasn't on speaker phone. The buyer said he wasn't blaming anyone for the problem, but he needed to know who to call to get it taken care of. First of all a couple of things needed to be determined. Was this a city issue, an HOA issue or a homeowner issue? We knew just what calls to make to make this determination.... 02/06/2014

White is Back in Style this Season. It's been a dry month for us on the Western Slope of Colorado. So far snowpack levels in the mountains aren't too bad...due to early winter snows, but the numbers aren't great, either.  Last night a winter storm rolled in and we've gotten hammered with snow. Tomorrow's forecast is calling for more snow. Grand Mesa got over a foot of snow last night, and I haven't heard the total from today. This is a wet snow, too.  This picture was taken late this afternoon. It doesn't really show how much snow we've gotten. Temperatures weren't too cold, so a lot of the snow that fell, melted when it hit the ground. The Cedaredge Town Park is NOT a Crime Scene. When you drive by the park and see the yellow police ribbon, don't be alarmed. Nothing criminal has happened at the park. There is yellow police tape around most of the playground area, but this is just a warning for people NOT to enter that area. The work has started and it's great it's being done when the park isn't seeing it's heaviest use.  Cedaredge Town Officials have approved some tree work in the park. Some trees will be pruned and some will be removed. Safety is the primary concern and reason for the tree work. It should be noted the town's insurance provider is also interested in having the trees pruned and removed.
