Scenes from Cedaredge, CO Christmas 2014 It was a slow day all over town in Cedaredge for Christmas. That's not out of the ordinary for this holiday. There wasn't a car parked on Main Street. Not even Sandy's Mazada Miata. No businesses were open and there was less traffic than usual. Just the occasional car heading down the road to somewhere else. Cedaredge is a small mountain town with a population of about 1800 people. You don't expect much to happen around here on a holiday like Christmas.    We didn't really have a white Christmas. I would call it more half and half. It started to snow this morning like we might get some accumulation, but the temperatures hovered around the mid 30's for the day, and the snow mostly melted when it hit the ground. WestAdor Affordable Homes Cedaredge, CO December 2014 Sales and Listings This is a great community conveniently located to just about everything in Cedaredge. There's easy access off of Highway 65 to the subdivision. The area has very little traffic because there are no thru streets. It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood We got a fair amount of snow last night. Everything is blanketed in white and I think it's beautiful. The temperature isn't too bad...somewhere just above freezing so this white stuff won't be around for very long.  One thing I really enjoy about living in Colorado is the four distinct seasons we experience. I love them all. Each season has something different to offer.  Someone got up pretty early to make this snowman. He's standing tall in the middle of the Cedaredge Town Park. I've never minded the snow. I grew up in the Midwest where we could get a lot of it. In Western Colorado we can get a lot of it, too, but in the lower elevations, it doesn't stay around for very long. 2014 Cedaredge, CO Parade of Lights Holiday Celebration Where else can you get dogs, an ambulance, fire trucks, horses, kids, a marching band and golf carts altogether and NOT have any problems...at the Cedaredge Christmas Parade. Every year this unlikely mix of vehicles, creatures and humans gather together to show off their creative floats on Main Street.  This year's parade was great, and I was hoping to videotape it, but due to a technical difficulty on the parade's part...I didn't. It would have taken waaaay to long. I have to laugh.   There was some misdirection with some of the floats and one end of Main Street was treated to three rounds of the last half of the parade. Delta County Habitat for Humanity Gingerbread Event A Big Success Gingerbread for Humanity drew a large crowd...it was practically standing room only in the Cedaredge Community Center. Here everyone with a ticket was given a gingerbread house to decorate however they wanted.  This was the second year for Gingerbread for Humanity, and this year's event was bigger and better than last year. That's what the Delta County, CO Habitat for Humanity Chapter was hoping for. This is going to become a big annual fundraiser for the group.   I'm a member of the local Delta County Habitat Chapter, and all of us are really happy to see such a great turnout and a lot of happy families having fun together.  It wasn't all about the gingerbread houses. Foto Friday...It's that Time of Year Main Street Cedaredge is getting decked out for the holidays. Town employees have hung wreaths from each lamp post and set out small Christmas trees in front of all the shops.  At Cedaredge Land Company we also like to dress up the building for the holidays. We are the only real estate office on Cedaredge's Historic Main Street, and we fit right in with the historic aspect of Main Street, because we are also the only real estate office that has been in business for over 30 years.  Broker/Owner, Perry Hotz (yep...he started the company), was hard at work putting up the wreath and other lights. Coat Donations are Still Being Accepted for the Lion's Club Coat Drive Check your closets and storage room...do you have an extra coat laying around that you don't use anymore? If so you can put that coat to good use by helping someone less fortunate. There is a strong need in the Cedaredge and Surface Creek area for coats. The Lion's Club Coat Drive is still going on. Donations are being taken of gently used coats for people of all ages.  You can drop off your coat donation at the Cedaredge Food Bank on Mondays from 9 - 11AM or Thursdays from 1 - 3PM. Things to do in Cedaredge...Gingerbread House Building This is a fund raising event for the Delta County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. This is a great family event. It's the second year for Gingerbread for Habitat...and last year it sold out. Yes you have to buy a ticket. They are available at Cedaredge Land Company and the Cedaredge Chamber of Commerce for $30.  Here are the details: It's Saturday, December 6th, 2014 from 1:00 - 3:00. It's at the Cedaredge Community Center.
