Hatch Chile Time in Colorado     Hatch Chile time has arrived in Colorado!     You can buy a bushel of chiles and have them roasted right in front of you.    They put these chiles into plastic bags, and work very well for freezing.   My favorite place to get my chiles roasted is at Nick's Garden Center.     They have a full array of perrinials, annuals, trees and fresh fruits & veggies for purchase.     They are family owned and care about their patrons, and offer wonderful service.   You have choices to the types of chiles you can get roasted, and take them home unroasted.   Southlands Shopping Center in Aurora, Colorado   Southlands Shopping Center is located off of Aurora Parkway and Smoky Hill Road in Southeast Aurora.  It is an outdoor mall with shops, restaurants and an AMC 16 Theatre.  Southlands has Main Street which runs down the center of the mall with ample parking in front of all of the stores and restaurants.    At the end of Main Street is the movie theatre and a fountain where kids love to go in the summertime to cool off.  There are also anchor stores and restaurants surrounding the mall.    One of my favorite places to visit is the large Sam’s Club store which is on the east boundary of the mall.  Adjacent to the Sam’s Club is a huge Wal Mart Superstore.    This time of year, there are flowers everywhere as you walk from store to store.  I... 09/04/2011

Coming up soon -  E-Cycle Event – in Aurora, Colorado The city of Aurora will have an E-Cycle Event on Sept 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  at the Aurora Municipal Center which is located at 15151 E. Alameda Parkway in Aurora.  You can bring DVD players, computers, vcr’s, microwaves, small appliances and more to be recycled by Metech International.  The cost for most items is $1 to $2 each but TVs are $15 and computer monitors are $10.  This is a great way to recycle and clean out all of those unwanted items taking up space in the basement. 09/03/2011

In some culture, I’m sure this is the year of the Rabbit.  We have had more than our fair share of rabbits this year!  Our front yard used to be lush and green, but not this year.  For some reason, the rabbits picked our front yard to chomp on pulling the grass up by its roots.   This is driving my husband bonkers!   He went online and found this handy dandy solar animal repeller.  When an animal comes within so many feet, a red light goes off and the device transmits a solar sound that only the animals can hear.  So far it is working just great!  We came home the other night and there was a rabbit sitting two feet in front of it (red light and all) just munching away on the grass.   The next day, we went to the hardware store and bought a jug of Animal Repellant.  This magical stuff is... 08/30/2011

Last month, Will and I closed on two homes in the same neighborhood, Seven Lakes in Aurora, Colorado.  The second home was someone who saw our For Sale sign and observed all the work we were doing for that seller.  When they got ready to sell, they called us up and we got their home listed and sold.  In fact, we had three offers on their home in 7 short days. Now that both sellers have moved on, we thought we would send out some "Just Sold" postcards to that neighborhood so the neighbors could see that we got results for both sellers. We are going to send one batch of cards out and wait a few days and then send the second batch. Hopefully these cards will result in some phone calls and some more listings and some more closings. ~ Pay It Forward - Finding a Home ~ I have some past clients that are moving to Australia with a job transfer.  I have sold them a couple of homes and they are a great family.  They have 2 young boys and 2 dogs.  Unfortunately, if they bring the dogs, the dogs will have to stay in quarantine for 6 months.  They don't feel that this would be fair to the dogs.  So I have been trying to help them find a home for 3.5 year old Ellie (she is the black lab mix) and 2.5 year old Sam (he is the tri-colored dog).  Both dogs are super sweet and great with little kids.  They are both friendly and well behaved.  Sam loves to cuddle.        08/20/2011

Save Up Your Calories for Wholly Cannoli Cafe in Aurora, Colorado. A new Italian Restaurant and Bakery opened right next to the grocery store that I shop at.  Wholly Cannoli Cafe is located at 22691 E. Aurora Parkway, Aurora, CO 80016. I went there for the first time last Friday for dinner with my husband.  He has been raving about it ever since he stopped there for lunch one day.  We both had the home made spaghetti.  It was delicious.  A couple in the next table ordered calzones and they were so big, they were falling off the edge of the plates. This is a good recipe for old fashioned shortcake that you can pile lots of strawberries and whipped cream on.It’s still summer and strawberriesare plentiful especially at the Farmer’s Markets in Aurora Co Soutlands Retail CenterSmoky Hill and E-4709:AM -2:00 PM  May-Oct.     OLD-FASHIONED SHORTCAKE   Mix 1 quart sliced strawberries or any seasonal fresh fruit with 1 cup sugar, set aside.  In a large bowl, mix 2 cups flour, 2 Tablespoons sugar, 3 teaspoons baking powder and ½ teaspoon salt.  Cut in ½ cup butter  mix until crumbly.  Mix 1 egg and ½ cup cream or half and half.  Add to the flour mixture.  Mix until moist.  Pat mixture into an 8-inch greased pan.  Bake at 450 degrees for 15 to 20 minut... 08/10/2011
