My brokerage, in an attempt to appear more human and caring, I imagine, started setting up the Lyon Cares program, which donates funds to charities, right after a company-wide fiasco happened that threatened our very framework. I'm not saying it's not a good program, or that even under the auspiciousness of how it was founded lessens its credibility, it still deserves our support. Mammoth Lakes located in central California is one of Vegas Bob's favorite hang outs during the summer months. When the temps in Las Vegas are reaching 110 plus VB likes to jump in the car with the family and take a 6 hour drive north west to Mammoth Lakes. The elevation is around 7000 feet which helps create much cooler temps along with breath taking views. Take a look at this beautiful photo that took on one of my visits to Mammoth Lakes. Of these, 127 are Fair Market Sales, 11 are Short Sales, 3 are REO’s and 2 are Probate sales. The distressed sale opportunities, in Mammoth, are less than in years gone by. As we work through the distressed sales toward a healthier local market, prices will rise accordingly.  How quickly will this happen? I don’t know. There is a sign in the middle of a grassy field at Mono Lake that says when the water reaches that spot, Mono Lake will be restored. That sign is a long ways from the water. It's hard to believe that the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power caused such destruction in the middle of nowhere but it did. It stole the water from Mono Lake in 1941, and 30 years later LADWP swiped some more. The lake used to take up more than 4 acres of land. Today, it is less than 2 acres. It's about 9 miles around the lake. By diverting streams that fed Mono Lake, the LAWPD drained the lake by half. This body of water is home to almost 88% of the gull population in North America.
