11/29/10 - Weekly Whittier Homes and Real Estate Market Report Search through Whittier Homes and find your Dream Home! Overall, there are not many changes compared to last week, just a slight increase of active listings from 474 last week to 479 this week. No major changes in the Condo category, but there was a somewhat significant increase in the Home category, in the price range between $200,000 and $300,000 (12 more active listings). Only 4 of those 12 listings were brand new (2 REOs, 1 Short Sale, 1 Standard Listing), which leads us to believe that the remainder are most likely listings that experienced a price reduction (meaning they were formerly in the $300,000 to $400,000 range). This year's Uptown Whittier Christmas Parade starts at 10 a.m. and runs until Noon on Saturday, December 11, 2010. 11/22/10 - Weekly Whittier Homes and Condo Market Report Take a look at Whittier Homes for sale! Overall, there is an increase of six active listings this Monday compared to data extracted from the MLS last week (474 active Whittier Homes and Condo listings). Even though this is not a significant change (due to listings that expired, went into Escrow, or were taken off the market), there is quite a significant increase (10 new listings) in the price range between $200,000 and $300,000 of Whittier Homes. The Truth Hurts (Especially When You're NOT Telling It) I had a Listing appointment with a very nice woman a few weeks ago. She invited me into her home and let me share ALL of the information that I had for her home.  Finally, came the BIG Question: What is my home worth?  I gave her the value range for her home ending with an estimated List price.    She was exstatic.  Why?  Because she said that I was the first Agent (out of 3) that gave her the FULL information regarding her home.  Her complaints were as follows:  1.  The other two Agents had left out the lowest Comps for her home. (She already had a complete set of her own!) 2.  One of the Agents actually laughed at her when she asked about the "omitted" property saying that it was NOT a real sale (when it was a REAL sale) 3.  Both... 11/17/2010

This week it's "good news, bad news" for active Whittier home listings .. overall (Whittier Homes and Condos), there is no big difference in the amount of active listings: 467, compared to last week's 468*. Also no big changes looking at the overall number of active Whittier Condos (51, down from last week's 57), or even Whittier Homes (416, up from last week's 411). The big jump is within a particular price range: $200,000 - $300,000. Good news - an increase of 17 listings in that price range compared to last week. Today, I would like to introduce you to the Whittier Interfaith Food Center, a non-profit charity serving the less privileged and homeless of Whittier and La Mirada, one of the largest food pantries in California. Interfaith Food Center was founded in 1983, serving approximately 30 low-income families. Since then, Interfaith Food Center has grown significantly, now serving about 700 households a week. The Holiday season is approaching fast, and the Interfaith Food Center has started its annual toy and food drive. The food and toys will be destributed to local families in need. Based on figures I pulled from the MLS this morning, there were a total of 88 Residential Real Estate sales in the City of Whittier for the month of October. This is the fifth month of decreasing sales - usually not a big deal as sales figures decrease historically from September through the end of the year. However, looking at the overall sales numbers, October has the lowest sales overall.   Compared to October sales over the past 5 years, October 2010 came in second lowest, with October 2007 being the worst October (64 sales) since 2005 (October 2008 and 2009 sales spurred by first-time-buyer incentives).
