Lowe's Home Improvement Store in Vallejo is OPEN for business. Finally it is here and ready to serve Vallejo and its surrounding communities.  I live in Benicia and this is a hop, skip and a jump for me to get to.  There is easy access from Columbus Parkway and a quick hop to HWY 80.  This is heaven on earth to get a Lowe's so close by for many of us who are "love to shop at home improvement stores kinda people". This past weekend while doing some shopping at Safeway in Glen Cove, the Veteran Association was collecting money and giving away the red poppies.  I can remember my dad proudly wearing the poppy when I was a child in London, Ohio.  I was always intrigued by the paper flower. We were doing a 203k loan consultation the other day and low and behold we met the nicest couple who turned out to be the owners of Zio Fraedo's Italian & Continental Restaurant in Vallejo what a small world. I lived in Pleasant Hill for my last year in high school and a couple years there after and the branch of Zio Fradeo's was a regular stopping place for nice dinners out with your best girl.  About a year ago, wow how time flies when you are having fun. Anyway, a friend of mine "Danny N." called me up for lunch and since he lived in Martinez we met at Zio Fraedo's for lunch on a Friday. The Taste of Home Cooking School and Food Expo is coming to Vallejo, CA November 4th.  It will take place at the Solano County Fairgrounds off I80.   My husband even said he might go with me.  I have enjoyed the Taste of Home magazines for years and discovered instead of the magazines, I can get the yearly hard covered recipe book that features the recipes from the magazines for that year.  These are much easier to store than the magazines.  I have found the recipes to be easy to prepare and oh so good!  My parents got me hooked on Taste of Home over 20 years ago.  I would say most of the recipes evoke memories of comfort food and the contributors are mostly from the Midwest.  Now there is the chance to go to the Taste of Home Cooking School that only comes once a year to our area.  In ...
