We started the list with The Classic, The Straw Buyer, Air Loans and Double Sales. Here's a few more: Affinity Fraud - where the perpetrator looks to specific groups for victims. They will recruit ringleaders who have contacts at a church group, within ethnic groups, senior groups and professional groups like nurses or teachers. By virtue of the fact that they are already part of that group, they are more readily accepted and after making sure the first couple victims are treated like royalty - the rest fall like dominoes.   I had the pleasure of meeting Robert Renzoni a while back at Francesca's Italian Kitchen in Temecula. He told me to come see his winery and this past Saturday, I did. Word has gotten out as the tasting room was packed, and I'm not surprised. Robert makes several outstanding wines and also makes visitors to his winery feel right at home. Laura and I tasted several of his wines including chardonnay, rose, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and his newest addition the 2006 Super Tuscan blend "Fiore di Fano". It hasn't been released for sale yet as he is waiting for the labels to arrive, but we purchased a bottle that he signed for us.     If you haven't visited the Temecula wine country lately, come see some of the newer wineries. Yesterday my BFF Laura and I had the pleasure to relax and stroll along the sidewalks of charming Old Town Temecula.  We always try to pretend we are on vacation and look through "tourist eyes" which help us explore a little further out of our comfort zone....you know, favorite local restaurants, specialty shops and wineries.  Ha!  We were quite the adventurous duo,  we had to walk only a few steps off of Front Street...the main drag of Old Town.  And boy am I glad we did!   We found a great Old Town Temecula addition when we stumbled into Jack's Nut's! 10-20 komen race October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month across the country. Yesterday our local Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event took place at the Promenade Mall with over 10,000 participants. I MC'd the first local race back about seven years ago when our goal was to get 1,000 people to participate. While the goal of Susan G. Komen is to eradicate breast cancer and take away the need for events like this, unfortunately both the need and the event grow larger every year.   This years race was a special one. My daughter, Tara, put together a team of friends and co-workers to race in celebration of her mother. Aside from being saddled with me for an ex-husband, Linda is a terrific person. Yesterday morning 11,000 people, "Raced for the Cure"  in the annual 5 mile walk to benefit breast cancer awareness in honor of founder Susan G. Korman, at the Promenade mall in Temecula.   This was the 10th annivarsary for the race here in Temecula.   More than 180,000 cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed this year. Since the Susan G.   You never know where inspiration will strike. When I posted about Briar Rose Winery recently, someone suggested I visit Oak Mountain Winery. Never one to back down from a challenge, Laura and I paid them a visit. We're very glad we did.   Steve and Valerie Andrews started the Temecula Hills Winery in 2000. Three years ago they opened Oak Mountain. Both wineries are still going strong and you can sample the "goods" from each winery at Oak Mountain. I was at parent teacher conferences last week and I had a teacher ask me this: What do you do if you know your son or daughter may be smoking marijuana?   We had been speaking about drugs at school. This teacher has small children but since he is a high school teacher and is aware that high school students routinely experiment with drugs, he was curious and also looking for advice in the future.   This is an uncomfortable topic for many parents. Most parents are in denial about whether or not their kids are taking drugs.   The best schools in the best areas have drug problems of some kind.   My son is a good kid but when I found a smoking device in the backpack of a friend that was over at our house of course, I was very upset.   I like to be positive and pro-active at the same time. Each short sale is different - Due to the fact that there are many moving parts involved as well as different players:  The Players:  (The Bank and the Borrower) Banks- (each have their own Loss Mitigation department that handles-business a little bit differently).  Some are faster than others.  The changes in the banking industry such as bank mergers have definitely had an impact on some banks and their loss mitigation departments.
