Except for the steak dinner a friend invited me to in Kona a while back, I have not readily thought of going out for a steak. It used to be a craving but I have lessened my intake of red meat for years. Not on purpose, it just sort of happened. For one thing, it gets harder to eat once living things than it does vegetables. From a perspective. Sometimes it is hard to forget it was once a live animal. If I had to score my own meals, I could not kill a critter. I would rather dine on grass. However, there is still nothing like a good steak. Fortunately, Sacamento has several wonderful restaurants in the Midtown area for steak as well. You can read more about it in my personal blog today at this link: The Waterboy is a Great Spot for Steak.

Well, Stub Hub is already selling tickets this morning for $2,000 each in Row A to see Fleetwood Mac at Golden 1 Center the day after Thanksgiving. Personally, I think the best person in that group is Lindsey Buckingham, and I last saw him at the Crest Theatre in downtown Sacramento where it cost me $49 to be in the front row. However, he's not on the tour anymore. This is how I get sidetracked when I pop over to Active Rain to write a blog. Because I tend to check my throwaway email account first.Today I would like to talk about the highwater bungalow in Midtown that just closed escrow yesterday. This is a wild and crazy story about how the seller was about to sign a contract with a discount agent when instead he called me. The agent had sent the listing paperwork to him through DocuSig...

One of my favorite neighborhoods in Midtown is where Craftsman Row (some call it Bungalow Row) is located. The location is ideal because the traffic is somewhat less than other areas, the streets are wider, and it's still far enough away from Business 80 so you don't hear much of the freeway. A reporter friend from the Sacramento Bee once said the thing she disliked most about living in Sacramento is wherever you went, you could hear the freeways. For me, the thing I dislike the most is 115-degree heat in the summer. But fortunately, it doesn't get that hot all the time. Maybe for 2 or 3 weeks. It is not Palm Springs but close to it. Very dry heat.Midtown also offers a lot of trees, and you can walk almost anywhere. Plethora of restaurants, nightlife, shops, very urban environment. Some ...

We had originally stopped by the Jungle Bird shortly after this restaurant / bar opened in Midtown last fall, but it was a Sunday, and the place was closed. Not anymore! Now, just in time for Memorial Day, the place is open for Sunday brunch. Fortunately, for me, it's a few blocks down from my real estate office at 28th and J Streets.Apparently, tiki lounges are on the rise across the country. This place even promotes a cocktail called the Three Hour Tour, ha, ha, ha. It costs $100, serves 6: two kinds of rum, champagne, vodka, orange, pineapple and lime, passion fruit and honey. You can read more and see more photos in my personal blog today at this link: Brunch at the Jungle Bird in Sacramento.

We've been shopping at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op since we first moved to Sacramento some 14 years ago. We used to shop at the Whittier Co-Op in Minneapolis, because my husband insists on organic food. When I use the collective word "we" I really mean my husband because he is the grocery food shopper in our family.I intensely dislike shopping for groceries. I have to do it when he goes out of town, and it's an awful chore. Although, it's not so bad at the new location for our Sacramento co-op in Midtown. This co-op has been around since 1973, and it spent 43 years at its old location on Alhambra before moving into its new Midtown digs last week. You can see all the photographs and hear about my trip to the store yesterday in my personal blog at this link: Sacramento Natural Food...
What a glorious fall day for the Sacramento Deschutes Street Pub in Sacramento. There will be three chefs demonstrating and serving some tasty appetizers, four local bands to listen to and a variety of Deschutes beer to enjoy. I enjoyed this event last year by helping the chefs prepare and serve appetizers. It was a blast and the food was great. This event benefits the local charity, Runnin for Rhett. They are a training community of runners, walkers, volunteers and friends that help children and adults get motivated, improve their fitness and Move Into Life. Join us for our next event too, the Run Because You Can 5k, Sunday, November 6th. It is a fun race that winds through Old Sacrament...

We have characters in Midtown, people who are homeless but have become such an institution in certain neighborhoods, such a part of the landscape, that they are regarded as part of the community by residents. It's not uncommon for people who live in Midtown to know the names and habits of many homeless people.I know agents in my office, for example, who often stop to chat with the homeless. We don't automatically fear homeless people or runaway from them. Some of us know their dogs and bring them treats. Still, the question can arise in a Transfer Disclosure Statement when it asks about a neighborhood nuisance. Not to mention, there is the Seller Property Questionaire that asks about material facts. You can read more in my personal blog today about Are Homeless People a Material Fact in ...
