Tuesday is the realtors' board tour day on the San Francisco Bay Peninsula in San Mateo County.   There seemed to be more new listings today than on last week's tour, and many of the properties were well priced.    At the Top of the Tour is 1936 Whipple Avenue, Redwood City, MLS#81054242. a beautiful, newly constructed, Tuscan style home in Redwood City, priced at $1,840,000.  This property offers plenty of bells and whistles and a well laid out floor plan.  Situated in the Mount Carmel/Edgewood Park neighborhoods, this home offers 4 bedrooms, 4.5 baths and, according to the MLS, is approximately 3780 square feet on about an 8548 square foot lot. To learn more about the property, contact the listing agent Peter Vece at Dumas and Company or go to Wendebythe Bay.com.

Redwood City's Corner Yogurt shop on the corner (of course!) of Woodside Road and Beresford Avenue, across from Woodside Plaza, now has one of the best flavors of the year - Pumpkin!  This delicious frozen yogurt concoction makes for a perfect sweet treat for October and November when the more traditional pumpkin pie won't fill the bill.  Corner Yogurt opened its doors in June of this year and has been delighting Redwood City folks with such delicious frozen flavors as lemon, peach, acai and of course chocolate and vanilla ever since. While some frozen yogurt tends to have an after taste, I have noticed none with their offerings.  Owned and operated by a Redwood City family, it's been a dream of theirs to share their love of frozen yogurt with their friends and neighbors for quite aw...

It's November 4th, and San Mateo County Real Estate is ever changing.  Here are the past week's numbers at a glance.   The inventory is shrinking across the board, with less homes for sale in every city shown, and the number of closed sales is up in Redwood City, Atherton , Woodside and Portola Valley. The number of new pending sales is down across the board as well as the number of new listings coming on the market in the last week. It could be a good time to bring a new, competitively priced listing on the market, with the dwindling, aging inventory.  I know some of my buyers are waiting to pounce on something good!   The above chart shows selected cities of the San Francisco peninsula. For information on all San Francisco peninsula cities, go to www.WendebytheBay.com.

Real estate is selling on the mid-Peninsula in San Mateo County, California. Today was a banner day for me -- two transactions closed this morning! Yesterday I wrote about escrow closing on 2448 Coronet, Belmont, CA 94002; it recorded this morning, keys have been handed over, sign removal ordered, status changed in the multiple listing service. And my sellers are in the process of buying a gorgeous home in Tennessee! Also on record today is the sale of a home at 411 Luff Lane in Redwood Shores, CA. Redwood Shores is part of Redwood City, but a community unto itself--a newer development at the edge of San Francisco Bay, with parks, lagoons, and waterside housing, with miles of scenic jogging trails along the shoreline. This beautiful 4-bedroom home on Luff Lane in Redwood Shores now belon...

This morning I was perusing the upcoming events for November in Redwood City http://www.redwoodcity.org/events and came upon this documentary movie screening: Race to Nowhere, showing Tuesday, Novemeber 2, 7 pm at the Redwood City Veterans Memorial Senior Center Theater Hmmm... sounded interesting, so I looked it up on line http://www.racetonowhere.com  After watching the trailer, I was hooked!  For anyone who has school age kids, or knows someone who has school age kids (that should include just about everybody), this looks like a movie with a strong message for all of us!  Director, Vicki Abeles, a self-proclaimed novice in the film industry, is a San Francisco Bay Area parent who brings to light this critical issue facing most of our children daily, nation-wide - the extreme stress t...

West of Alameda de las Pulgas in Redwood City and just below Emerald Hills between Jefferson Avenue and Farm Hill Boulevard is the attractive, rolling hills neighborhood of Farm Hills.     With sidewalks and comfortably sized one and two-story ranch style homes, this Redwood City neighborhood combines a suburban feel with a touch of nature.           Originally built in the 1950’s the majority of the homes initially offered a variety of single-level, split-level and 2 story floor plans with 3 or 4 bedrooms and 2 baths.              Over the years many have been tastefully updated and expanded to include additional bedrooms and baths, larger master suites, family rooms or great rooms.  Though many homes have level backyards opening off the homes’ living rooms, most of those built on a sl...

Edgewood Park, Redwood City’s picture postcard neighborhood, is  bordered by  El Camino Real and Alameda de las Pulgas, Whipple Avenue and Edgewood  Road. Being in Redwood City, it is conveniently located between I-280 and US-101, almost equadistant to San Francisco and San Jose.         The gently curving, tree-lined streets are adorned with attractive, mostly larger homes (3,000 square feet and above) on larger lots (over 10,000 square feet), many of which are newly constructed or recently completely remodeled. With its inviting ambience of well-maintained homes and tree-lined sidewalks, Edgewood Park offers a more affordable alternative to Old Palo Alto.                     Located on the northern border of Redwood City, adjacent to San Carlos, the neighborhood is within walking d...

Since I'm a realtor, people often ask me where the best places to live are.  One of my favorites is Emerald Hills in Redwood City, CA, located on the San Francisco Peninsula. Just east of the 280 freeway Emerald Hils offers a variety of homes. Prices range from smaller cottages and ranchers in the mid $700,000's to luxury estate style homes in the upper $2,000,000's.   Bordered by Woodside and San Carlos, Emerald Hills attracts home owners looking for a more nature-filled setting with relatively easy access  to all the amenities of suburban living. With plenty of trees and sloping hills, the majority of homes are custom built and many offer spectacular views of the bay  and neighboring hills                                                                                                 ...
