Demolition Work for New Waterfront Hotel in Redondo to Start this Fall

The owner of the Shade Hotel in Mahattan Beach (room picture) and numerous other beach cities businesses, Michael Zislis, said he plans to start the clearing and demolition work for his Shade Hotel Redondo this coming fall. The waterfront, boutique hotel has been in the planning stages since 2008 and was on hold until voters passed the harbor zoning initiative Measure G in November 2010. From the Daily Breeze article by Douglas Morino: "Shade Redondo Beach will occupy 1.4 acres of city-owned land at 655 N. Harbor Drive, the site of a former Red Onion Restaurant and, most recently, a night club and bar. Today, the building sits vacant, surrounded by chain link fence. Once completed, the hotel will feature 45 rooms, a rooftop deck, pool area, lounge and open area for al fresco dining. So...
