With the 400 additional acres acquired in 2005 in the Portuguese Bend Nature Preserve, the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy has a lot more planting, weeding, trail maintenance and beautification projects to do.  The nonprofit organization is looking for a few good men and women to lighten the load.Nearly every Saturday of the year the organization hosts a volunteer event.  Team Leaders direct and assist volunteers with the project for the day.  The Land Conservancy continues to look for Team Leaders who are members of the community and at least 16 years old with a desire to learn new skills while interacting with the environment.  Team Leaders are trained at full day workshops. The workshop includes various aspects of ecological restoration, plant identification, trail work maint... 01/19/2008

I was recently asked by a soon-to-be resident what I like best about living in Palos Verdes.  My answer was not as concise and to the point as I would have liked.  Later, I found myself thinking about the very legitimate question and here's my list:1. It was a view issue, and there were two sides, or views, to the story.  Trump National Golf Course, located in Rancho Palos Verdes, commands a sweeping view of the Pacific Ocean, and the project has done a tremendous job of beautifying the south side of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Its presence has certainly not hurt real estate values either. First of all I would like to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR!The Palos Verdes Peninsula only has a total of 148 single family home listings at the present time, of those, there are only 84 in Rancho Palos Verdes. Only 26 0f those listinga are under $1 Million. So, as you can imagine, the inventory is quite managable and in some cases it is still hard to find the right property for your qualified buyers. I am currently working with four different buyers and at this point I am at a standoff until more listings come on the market. I just put a listing in escrow on Avenida Esplendida and I had 5 offers in less that 7 days. Unfortunately dogs are prohibitted from most beaches in the South Bay, however we have a hidden jewel in Rancho Palos Verdes.If you follow the trails down at Ocean Trails (or Trump's trails) whatever you want to call them...I prefer the orignal name myself, you'll come to an opening which leads to a switchback trail to a beautiful secluded beach. Rancho Palos Verdes City Council has spoken, Trump must remove his ficus trees which were planted without authorization on his RPV golf course.The trees were planted to shield the homes that sit just outside of the new driving range from balls and to "beautify" the range.  The property owners preferred their view of the ocean, not the greenery that blocked the view.Trump's organization has been given until January 18th to remove the trees or risk losing his use permit for the driving range.www.RPVLuxuryProperty.com    12/06/2007
