Are Your Iron Hand Railings Safe For Hands to Use?   You may not have thought much about it but your iron hand railings may not be safe. There is an apartment complex in the Rancho Cordova area that has a problem with their stair hand rails, so they called me. I didn’t know what to expect but I knew that management was concerned with one of the stairways. When I arrived, I walk over to the building and it was obvious what the problem was. It appeared that the railings had been repaired a few years back in an attempt to save the railings. A new iron plate had been welded to the top of the iron railings. It looks as though the welding was not a good bond, welding to a rusted surface is a temporary fix at best. A few years after this repair, the railings are very dangerous.   Some Days a Salad Is the Best Choice   I pulled into a local fast food restaurant today to grab a bite before going to the Building Department in Sacramento.
