Pleasanton HistoryThe Amador-Livermore Valley was first sighted by a Spanish soldier, Captain Pedro Fages, in 1772 while on an expedition searching for new mission sites. It was a half-century after this discovery that Jose Amador, in 1826, brought the first settlement to the valley, which still bears his name. Spanish families were awarded huge tracts of land as a result of the abandonment of the California Mission System. Alisal, as Pleasanton was known at the time, was located on one of the main routes to the gold fields and quickly became a mercantile stopover for miners seeking their fortune in the Mother Lode. The first white settler in the immediate area of Pleasanton was Augustine Bernal in 1850. The adobe house he built on Foothill Road is still standing today. He lived the...

I hear a lot of Bay Area home buyers say they want to wait for "the bottom". They just are not comfortable buying in the current market with all of the negativity and the fear of more price erosion. Perhaps it's time to take a walk down memory lane and revisit the market of 2005. Because once we are past "the bottom", and all signals are pointing up, we could be right back into that kind of market. You do remember the market in 2005, don't you? (cue up background music with heavy strings)Ah yes, the good old days. No worries about how much prices are going to drop. Everyone is buying real estate (even, as it turns out, some people who shouldn't be). The news media is full of stories about how much homes are appreciating. You are my client, and you would like to buy a 4 bedroom, 2000 sq ...

Great Green News!!!, This week’s Go Green Initiative School of the Week, Walnut Grove Elementary School in Pleasanton, became the first solar school in California just last week to go green! Principal Bill Radulovich flipped the switch and turned on the solar energy! Perhaps not surprisingly, it's just the latest step they've taken as the folks at Walnut Grove Elementary School have been transforming their campus from a "gardening, composting, recycling" school to one that's focused on saving energy while helping a school around the world do the same. GO WALNUT GROVE ELEMENTERY, PLEASANTON!!!! ~Gail My Site

My YouTube video gives an overview of this gem of a city in the southern end of Alameda County. I take you on a tour of the uniqueness of this town, a little history and show some of its "soul." The community has a great location, weather and school system that make it a perfect place to call home. The Tri-Valley area has plenty of vistas and locales but none with a heartbeat of a small town so close to major urban centers as Pleasanton. Come see what you have been missing. ~Gail My Site

What a great experience I just had at attending my first auction. I had no idea that many people would show up to an auction. It was very loud, there were problems with the microphone and sound a few times, but overall I saw some people make some great deals and some that just didn't make since. I would highly advice any Realtors, Loan Agents that want to grab some extra business by attending the auction. by the way my clients and I sat in the front row by the very loud speakes and I beleive I'm deaf for now... Free Home Search

I just finished a video that features interviews with residents of Pleasanton CA.  In this video, various Pleasanton residents talk about what they like best about the city, what they like doing here, and why they like living here.  I hope you will find it interesting.  Feel free to pass it on to anyone who might find it interesting.  And no, I have no plans to give up my day job.

Information is power. If you are buying a home, and you find a home you are interested in, I always suggest that you talk to the neighbors the first opportunity you get.  We all know the classic "nosy neighbors" who make it their business to know everyone else's business.  Gladys Kravitz on Bewitched and any of the characters on Desperate Housewives are prime examples.  While these people can be very annoying to live near, they can be your best source of information when you are evaluating a neighborhood. You see, neighbors have information, insights, and knowledge that comes from actually living in the neighborhood.  They know far more about traffic patterns, kids in the neighborhood, what the residents are like, crime, nuisances, pending changes or developments that might impact the ne...

If you have been following the Pleasanton real estate market these past few months, you know that bears are not the only animals in hibernation.  Home buyers have been hibernating as well, forced into hiding by a seemingly unending wave of bad news about the national real estate market.  Oh sure, buyers made occasional inquiries and even wondered into an open house or two, but for the most part they have been content to sit on the sidelines and see where things go.Well, it looks like the hibernation might be ending.  Home buyers are starting to venture out.  Traffic is up at open houses, and more and more buyers are starting to explore some of the opportunities in the market.  Go to my blog at www.680Homes.com to read the rest of this post.

The Pleasanton CA real estate market continued on a slow and steady trend in January, as rainy weather and the dark clouds of bad news on real estate and the economy dampened most buyer's moods.  Fears of a recession and dismal national real estate news were instrumental in prompting the Federal Reserve to again lower short term interest rates by 3/4%, which is certainly good news for mortgage rates in the short term.  And the impending stimulus plan being proposed in congress, but not yet signed into law, brought even more hope that the bottom of the cycle is near.  Perhaps most significantly, the much discussed increase in the FNMA loan limits, which are currently stuck at a laughable $417,000, seemed to pick up steam, with speculation that an increase into the low $700,000's for the ...
