Palos Verdes longtime residents have different stories about how the “General Store” in Rolling Hills Estates began. Some say that it was constructed in 1928 as a community theatre, others as a nursery school inside with a small market and a gas pump.The General Store was known in 1938 as the Rolling Hills Market. This was even before Rolling Hills Estates was incorporated (which happened in 1957) so at that time the paperwork on the market was issued in Lomita to the Palos Verdes Corp.
