Competition to Buy Remains High in Palm Desert, CA  Competition among home buyers in Palm Desert, La Quinta, Indio and other Coachella Valley cities remains high. Right now, there are no shortage of people looking to buy, even as we head into our typically slower season of summer with 100+ degree days. Properties priced under the $300,000 price point are definitely in short supply. If you have been holding off to sell during the past few years, now may be the time to consider putting your property on the market. Homes in Palm Desert, La Quinta and Indio that are priced right are being swarmed by buyers. It is not uncommon to find 10 - 12 offers submitted on one property with offers going well over 12% of the list price. Even sellers that are underwater have opitions right now. Lenders a...

We had a great weekend in Palm Desert! We always do!  We (my wife along with the boys) try to get out there at least once a month.  For those of you that are familiar with the area then you may know of The Oasis Country Club.    This is our view from the patio, which by the way, has a very nice misting system!   The view is from the third hole of the beautiful golf course.  Every morning, with a cup of coffee, I sit around and watch the players tee-off – a very relaxing environment.  We can’t go to Palm Desert without at least one trip to Mario’s Italian Café!  This time I think we actually went three times!  If you are in the area, I highly recommend! Mama did a little shopping at The River at Rancho Mirage as well….It's very nice in the evening when it cools down a bit. Anyways, a ver...

The JW Marriott Resort in Palm Desert is a flag-ship hotel for the Marriott chain or hotels and resorts.  When I first moved to the desert in the late 1980's I would take people there just to see the lobby!  It is truly a spectacular and stunning hotel!  How many hotels have you seen that have boats coming in and out of the lobby to deliver you to different restaurants located on the property?  Live parrots greet you as you come in the doors and real pink flamingos live in the lagoons and lush gardens. The brand new Rockwood Grill & Blue Star Lounge opened Thursday at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Palm Desert.  Rockwood Grill was previously the LakeView restaurant and has undergone a complete renovation of the main dining room and other areas. The all-day restaurant fea...

Palm Desert Country Club is what I refer to as " An Oldie But Goodie."  Built in the 1960's Palm Desert Country Club still has the feel of the old Palm Springs area nostalgia but with modern touches and style.  With over 1800 homes in this non gated community every street is named after a state.   Therefor it is also known as Avenue of The States .   The community has a comfortable feel and people can be seen walking, riding bikes and just out and about.  Like the neighborhoods of the past, where the word community still had meaning. The Palm Desert Country Club public golf course and clubhouse recently went through approx 10 million in upgrades and remodeling.  The  18 hole course is beautiful and prices are affordable to everyone.  With water features and views of the Santa Rosa & San...

Part 2 of 2: ByWayneS.Bell(Chief Counsel) andSummerB.Bakotich(Special Investigator) – California Department of Real Estate Part 1 click here Last week we discussed Fraudulent Deeds recorded against properties. This week we will discuss scams used to falsify deeds. Following is an article received from the California Department of Real Estate. There are numerous types and scenarios of deed fraud, and they are only limited by the creativity, abilities, and tactics of the fraudsters. Thus, the cases mentioned below are not exhaustive, but illustrations only. A fraudster may forge a homeowner’s name on a quitclaim deed or another deed to a home. The deed is acknowledged and signed by a notary public (either legitimately based on false identification or illegitimately), and then recorded, ef...

There's a sense of accomplishment and pride in owning your own home. The very word 'home' conjures up feeling of security, not just in the sense that you have a place to call your own, but also for financial reasons. When you rent, the money goes straight from your pocket to your landlord's pocket. As a renter, you are not the one to reap the benefits of federal and state property tax and mortgage interest deductions. If you are the owner, you will be the one building equity as your property appreciates in value. In today's shaky economy, where else can you get so much bang for your buck? The equity in your home may also entitle you to re-financing options and provide you with the needed cash for remodeling, adding on, or other equity building activities. Not so if you are simply rentin...

The College of the Desert SWAP MEET in Palm Desert, CA – A New Look   The College of the Desert Swap Meet is an amazing array of vendors, selling their wares on Saturdays and Sundays year-round on the campus near the heart of downtown Palm Desert.   If you ever get a chance to visit this famous Swap Meet in Palm Desert, it is well worth it.   Picture a mobile outdoor mall of several hundred tents, with palm trees and mountains in the near distance, and the opportunity to spend hours browsing and shopping and probably not be able to take it all in.   Great people watching too, plus music and a farmer's market.   On our last visit a few weeks ago I decided to take a different look at the College of the Desert Swap Meet and just take pics of the signage. It will give you just a brief glimp...
