The Ojai Music Festival opens Thursday, June 6th.  Music lovers will enjoy 4 days of music and some dancing at anyone of the 37 events that will be held at 9 locations throughout Ojai.   Mark Morris is the visiting music director for the Ojai Music Festival this year, he is also the first choreographer to direct this festival, hence the dancing influence.   The Mark Morris Dance Group will be visiting Ojai local schools and The Gables Wednesday and Thursday.  There the group will lead some dance workshops.  They will also be offering free community workouts from 9 to 10a.m. Friday through Sunday in Libbey Park at the flagpole lawn area. Combine fun and fitness to jump-start your day. This low inventory is still the driving force of price appreciation. It was such a beautiful day yesterday in Ojai, that I feel compelled to post about this wonderful community.   The atmosphere in Ojai is one of creativity, perhaps brought on by the natural beauty of the area and this beauty and glorious energy attracts artists of all kinds, which makes Ojai all that more interesting.   Ojai has a relaxing energy perhaps brought on by the Chumash Indians. Some 3000 years ago, the Chumash Tribe settled roots in the Ojai Valley, bringing their well-developed civilization with them.  The name Ojai is originally from the Chumash tribe word “A’hwai” (pronounced ah hay) meaning “moon” or some say meaning “nest”.  The Chumash lived in Ojai for hundreds of years, believing that the valley held mystical powers possibly due to the unique east-west configuration. ...

The Wizard of Oz comes to Ojai.   The Wizard of Oz comes alive this month in Ojai. Director Gai Jones is the director for this multi-generational production of L. Frank Baum’s whimsical story of the “The Wizard of Oz”.   Rita Moran states in her Ventura County Star Article that Director Jones points out in her program note that this production is not a replica of the famous film, but is another adaptation of the book chosen from many options. Below, is the illustration of the Ojai Real Estate Market Report for the month of February, 2013.  This illustration also included properties from the Oak View area. If you compare the sales for February vs the other time periods, one could take away that Ojai home prices are declining, but that is not the case. There were fewer higher priced homes sold in February, of the 22 that sold, only 4 homes that sold over $650,000, which lowers the average sales price.
