101 Cafe Wall Mural in Oceanside I drive by this classic diner in Oceanside often, located on the historic 101 (aka the Coast Road) where it's been since 1928 - making it Oceanside's oldest restaurant.  Despite all my time here in neighboring Carlsbad I have yet to stop in...something to be remedied I think. I drove by 2 days ago, on the side road, on my way home from an inspection at a beautiful ocean-vew condo. It was a gorgeous fall day and the colors on the mural were particularly bright. And since I didn't already have this mural in my photo collection, I made it happen quickly before the light changed.

Who Remembers Gidget? I was showing oceanview properties today in Oceanside and we drove by the California Surf Museum - a fun place to visit if you are in town! In looking over the museum photos I had I found this picture of the Gidget display. Some of you may be old enough to remember Gidget, a novel, a 1959 movie (with Sandra Dee)  and a 1965 - 1966 sitcom (with Sally Field), about a “boy-crazy” teenaged girl and her surfing friends in Malibu, truly an icon of the California surfing culture.  It’s easy to see why this was included in the California Surf Museum historical treasures!
