Dimond Park, Oakland, CA Community and Real Estate InformationDiamond is a lovely residential area in Oakland, California, located in the city's eastern portion. The MacArthur Freeway runs through the neighborhood to the south, Sausal Creek runs through it to the west, 35th Avenue runs through it to the southeast, and the Lincoln Highland and Oakmore communities run through it to the north. Lower Dimond and Upper Dimond, split along Mac Arthur Boulevard, are the two portions of the district. These communities have identical housing designs and access to the same facilities as the rest of the region. One of the joys that I get out of being in real estate is finding these gems of history that you would have never known existed, much less the rich tradition behind it, without someone letting you in because they need your professional expertise to help them solve a problem.   One of these gems led me to discover that a section of Oakland called the Diamond District had been home to a large German population and in turn sprouted many Beer Gardens before prohibition.  One of the most famous was owned by Charlie Tepper and was called: The Tepper' House Hotel and Beer Garden.   Turns out that Charlie Tepper opened his establishment in 1896 and ran it until prohibition shut him down.  The rental is the 2 bedroom, 1 bath, 1200sf loft upstairs that was the Teppers family residence...
