Even in this age of computers nearly everywhere you look, libraries are an integral part of our community.   The Morgan Hill Library just announced they will have Monday hours for the first time in several years.  This gives you six days each week to spend your quality time learning or relaxing in a place designed for just that.     The new hours don't go into effect until 2014, but beginning 6 January, you can visit Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1-9 p.m.  The hours on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays are from 10:00 in the morning through 6:00 in the evening.  Sorry, but they're closed Sundays.     This schedule is based on inputs from the community (isn't it great to be heard?) and takes staffing into consideration.  According to the Morgan Hill Times, this was largely viable b...

This morning while volunteering at the wildlife center (WERC) we spent more time getting to know our newest Animal Ambassador.   Introducing . . .  The Saw-Whet Owl  This owl is wild and hasn't been worked with.  Note the stern look, raised head feathers and defensive move with the good wing. Satisfied using a gloved finger as a pacifier, the bird is more cooperative for a while.   The owl's left wing has no feeling or use making it non-releasable.  Earlier this week WERC received the permits required to include the owl in our educational program.   This saw-whet owl came from the mountains in the Santa Cruz / Los Gatos area and is used to quiet woods and minimal human interraction.  Fortunately for him, we understand and will help him anyway.   Pssst - There's a Toys-For-Tots Program c...

     David Blaine… real or magic, I had recorded this one last night and was able to sit back and enjoy it this evening commercial free. I always thought this guy was amazing from the first time I ever saw him perform as a street performer in a Manhattan park many years ago. I followed all his recorded performances as time went on and he just kept getting better and better but you have to see it up close and personal….ahmazing! I must say I had lost some interest in him during this extreme phase of his body limits, holding his breath, fasting and even being frozen in Ice, which I guess is true….but not? Fact is he really enjoys what he does and that is what it’s all about, so Kudo’s to you Mr. Blaine, good job!

Over the weekend I attended a potluck with an Asian themed menu - What to bring?!     Identifying an after dinner delight became my challenge and I was stumped.  Like many clients searching for homes, I turned to the internet to research ideas and recipes.  I asked for referrals on where to turn but still had the tough job of deciding and getting results.   The Morgan Hill Times did a piece during the summer of 2013 covering the grand opening of the first and only Asian grocery in town: ABC Asian Market.    I checked them out and I'm so happy I did!  Sure, I could have just been pleased they are a family owned and operated business with a variety of products to consider but there was something else.   Customer service.  This was the type of experience where the store owners were knowled...

 The event was a big hit and paparazzi photos are springing up in all the rags!   Last night (Saturday, 16 November 2013) Morgan Hill Community Foundation (MHCF) honored 23 philanthropists for their dedication and contributions to our neighborhood.     I blogged about this event here and now I'd like to share that not only did I attend, I had a terrific time!  It turned out so very nice.      Honorees and guests were ushered down a long hall across a red carpet teaming with photographers snapping photos and calling out greetings.  Now, I haven't ever hung out with the likes of James Dean or Doris Day, but any one of us could have been in their shoes last night.      The Morgan Hill Photography Club did a terrific part acting the parts of the paparazzi and made that a very engaging part ...

Routines can fine tune us or keep us from venturing out of the box - perhaps sometimes even a bit of both . . .   Every Saturday morning I don clothing that will help protect my body from being scarred by talons, beaks, snouts, claws and a few other defense mechanisms wielded by our wildlife.  I'm a volunteer at the Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center (WERC) located in Morgan Hill.     This morning was not unlike any other as animals were checked out, fed and cleaned up after.  When it was nearly time to finish for the morning, we received a call that a raptor had been electrocuted and needed our help.   When the bird arrived we brought it straight to the clinic for visual examination which includes identifying the species.  This appears to be a juvenile peregrine falcon.  Appa...

Roll Out The Red Carpet - 8th Annual Outstanding Philanthropist Celebration is 16 November 2013!   There's going to be a party tomorrow night at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center complete with red carpet treatment, "mock paparazzi" photographers and award themed decorations.  We're even expecting Jona Denz-Hamilton as the master of ceremonies.  If you're in the area, you may have heard Jona on 94.5 FM - KBAY.   What a great way to celebrate our local contributors to our community!  The honorees have volunteered many hours and/or made great financial contributions.  What a blessing to have such dedicated neighbors!   The Morgan Hill Community Foundation (MHCF) formed in 2002 and make awards to local projects and organizations.  You can read more about MHCF at www.morganhillcf...

     I recently came across a service and I am perplexed about its overall performance. I have spent a good amount of time speaking with both positive and negative users and I am not convinced if the positives outweigh the negatives.     Currently I am leaning towards signing on and moving forward but there are some disgruntled users that I value their opinion and who are telling me to learn from their mistakes..... ergo this AR post.     I am referring to Market Leader-Pro and it’s offered, in this case, as an add-on to our Keller Williams E-edge site (which is awesome). What is it that causes a Realtor® post a special request in the private remarks of an MLS listing stating this; “All agent must contact listing agent prior to any showing, absolutely no exceptions please”.    No worries, I get it, we’ve all had clients that need to be hand held at times or the agent may need this to happen for whatever reason.
