Not a Good Idea to Express Personal  Political Views on Social Media We all live in different places and are affected by political issues going on in our areas and across the nation. There is always some news causing a lot of uproar and most of us have strong feelings one way or the other. It is good that we have our own opinions and of course we think we are right and the other side of the coin is wrong but not good to publicize it on our "Social Media" sites or someone else's either. Here are some reasons why: 1. It can cause hurtful feelings and perhaps you will lose business because of your comments. 2. Once you put it out there in writing, it is there forever. That is a really scary thought! 3. In the future you might be applying for a job or political position, and your old commen...

I Saw Many Bears at the Anan Creek Bear Observatory near Ketchikan Alaska     The first time I went to Alaska, I only saw one bear and it was from the road. A bear was in a berry patch below eating and it was actually in the Yukon. I kept hearing that no one saw bears so I didn’t feel so bad but when we went back for our second trip, I was determined to find some bears.             Anan Creek Bear Observatory is a terrific way to see numerous bears in their natural habitat.           Our tour included a 40 minute flight each way from Ketchikan, and then a 1/2 mile walk up a trail to the Observatory deck.             We spent 1.5 hours watching both black & brown bear fishing for the salmon making their way upstream at the Anan Creek.           It is staffed by the US Forest Service and...

Improve your Photography Skills with a Macro Lens Part 1 Open up the world with a Macro lens and see the centers of flowers, rain drops, specks on a leaf, they eye of a bird, and the feet and hair on tiny bugs. It is so exciting to get that close to nature and not get a blur or shiny effect from the other lens. As most who know me, I like to post pictures of the area I live in so I took some pretty flower pictures with my basic EOS camera but then I changed and put on my Macro lens and retook the pictures. It is fun to see how they look smaller. I am still practicing with my new lens so they are not perfect but I am improving. I still have the settings on Automatic so the camera is doing the work.                                                                                           ...

First Day of Summer 2013.....Enjoy the Beauty that Surrounds You   What does the 'First Day of Summer' mean? To most of us, it is just a reminder that school is out, time for vacations and that we can hope to enjoy warmer weather and flowering plants and trees. The summer solstice (sun in latin) is the day with the most hours of sunlight during the entire year. But factually, the first day of summer has been celebrated for hundreds of years in most cultures of the world. And currently whether you are standing at  historical Stonehenge in Whiltshire, England or Spain, Egypt, Peru, New York City, Poland, New Zealand, the Chaco Cultural National Historical Center in New Mexico or right in your own community, you can enjoy the first day of summer and the days that follow. I personally took ...

New App for Realtors- Dictionary of Real Estate Terms   I came across this app recently called Dictionary of Real Estate Terms and wanted to share with others in my field. It is an app of over 3,000 industry specific real estate terms and right at your fingertips to look up. As Realtors, we know so many terms but there are always new ones popping up. Sometimes I cannot for the life of me remember what the word is I am thinking of and it starts with "a" so I might Google it if I am on the internet and see if I can find it. Things will be brought up that I haven't thought of since Real Estate School 101 long before I took my state exam. Sitting in a seminar and a speaker mentions a phrase and you think to yourself “what is that term again”? Or a client hands you an official letter regar...

Here is my list.   1.    Staging "Before" & "After" Pictures 2.    Whacked 3.    Sunsets & Sunrises 4.    Things to Do/ Places to Visit 5.    Dedicated Bloggers I am excited about these new groups and it has given me ideas about new posts to write. My 8 Gripes on the MLS by Other Realtors     Yesterday I was showing property and had done my research and found all the codes if not Supra boxes, location of boxes and  met up with my clients to show 6 houses. Below is some of the things I found and it really made me angry. We must be more accurate on the MLS and have respect for other Realtors who are showing properties.     Location of SUPRA Boxes- Make sure the box location is correct so agents are not searching behind bushes looking for the box when the MLS says 'Front Door'. Also when you write 'Supra Box' and they get there and it is really a combo box instead. This is so mean as to waste other agent's time when they cannot get it. When we got to this one house, my clients were also looking in the bushes too until we found the bo...

How Much Do I Love ActiveRain...600,000 Points 2 years ago I started blogging on ActiveRain. I made a commitment to myself to blog daily and make at least 10 comments a day. Except for some unforeseen reasons, I have followed through with my agenda. Today I passed my 600,000 Points and on May 20th, I was appointed an ActiveRain Ambassador. How could life get any better? Let me summarize below why I love ActiveRain.   How Much Do I Love ActiveRain....600,000 Points Blogging- I love to blog daily. It is my time to present news about real estate, market reports, localism  posts my community or just nature photos I have taken as I take pictures wherever I go. I try to post 10 times a week. I can write about real estate, technology news, my pets, my trips, or nature so when people say they d...

Moreno Valley Short Sale Many Moreno Valley home sellers, whether they are selling the property as a standard sale, short sale or just curious about price-setting, have many questions and reservations. But the real estate market climate in Moreno Valley is not much of a mystery, its just hard sometimes to filter through the abundance of information to get simple answers. Moreno Valley homes are selling faster than listings are hitting the market. This creates a seller's market. Home prices have firmed up and are slowly rising. Also, standard sellers, or equity sellers, are still reluctant about selling due to still-low home values and their own mortgage loans that may keep their net profits from being able to clear cost of sale. Moreno Valley short sales are still hitting the market and...

The Truth about Open Houses….Productive or Waste of Time   As Realtors, we all have our personal preferences regarding ‘Open Houses’ and sometimes they work for one property and not for another. One open house can get 25 visitors and another maybe 3. So go figure……is it the weather, the date, or just luck? Or maybe it has to do with advertising the event? Location- It depends on what type of location the house is in whether you have a good turnout or not. Myth- Some say the only reason an agent has one is to get a new buyer or seller and not to really sell this home. Realtor’s Personal choice-Usually if the agent like them, they can talk the seller into allowing them. Client’s preference- Some want them and others say no way. Combo Box or Lack of Combo Box- if there is no combo, an open...

Social Media has a new role-The Public's Eyes & Ears for News Events   A week ago, a highly respected marathon in Boston, Mass. turned into one of the most catastrophic events in US history. People were confused, lost, injured, separated from others, and social media proved to be a big help.     Google, Facebook and Twitter immediately took over when spectators and marathon runners began grabbing their cell phones to make calls, to take video footage, shot pictures to send to social media sites and to go to the internet and find out any news.       The Google website had a special site available up almost immediately for people who were lost and for people who checked in to say they were OK. This must have been a great relief to friends and loved ones who were panicked.   Smartphones-...
