Just a quick note to remind everyone that there is no farmer's market in Montrose this weekend.  Because of the Labor Day Holiday, the market has been canceled so don't make your normal trek to Honolulu Ave. on Sunday morning, September 2, 2007.  The market will return on Sunday, September 9, 2007.  Make sure to drop by my booth to check out the latest real estate listings in the Montrose and La Crescenta areas. The produce vendors at the market have had excellent fruits and vegetables lately.  I always enjoy getting a fresh supply each week.  Last week I grabbed nectarines and some late season strawberries.  They were a great addition to my evening bar-b-que.

I am sure that you have seen or heard all the doom and gloom from the media about the real estate market in general and the California market in particular.  Well, having just completed an analysis for the San Gabriel Valley real estate market, I can tell you it just isn't true here!Let's talk about the Montrose/La Crescenta area for a minute.  My analysis compares the 6 month period from January 1, 2007 through June 30, 2007 with the period from January 1, 2006 through December 31, 2006.  Here's how the numbers actually stack up.   (Note:  This analysis is based on data from the Pasadena Foothills Association of Realtors MLS and uses only the data for single family residences.)                                                            1/1/06-12/31/06                     1/1/07-6/30/07...

Once a quarter the Montrose Shopping Park Association hosts an art walk.  It involves artists demonstrating, showing and selling their work along Honolulu.  I went to the last art walk and really enjoyed myself.  I particularly remember one watercolor artists who was painting as people watched.  There was another artist who was showing a small child how his paint palette allowes him to mix a variety of colors. Most of the artists seemed more than willing to answer questions about their work and their techniques. The type of art was as varied as the artists themselves.  Prices ranged significantly but there was quite a bit that was available to beginning collectors. This Saturday, July 7th is the next art walk.  To take part in the festivities go to Honolulu Ave. where it intersects with ...

Every Sunday morning I get up at 6:30 am and get ready to head out for the farmer's market in Montrose, CA.  I load my car with folding tables (folding because they fit in a Jeep and are lighter), a pop-up tent, folding chairs, my Keller Williams open house signs and my display materials along with whatever quilt I am currently making.  I know it sounds a little crazy but I have a booth in the market where I show real estate listings in the local area.  I display properties from all across the San Gabriel Valley and have a notebook with all of the listings from Montrose, La Crescenta and La Canada. I love the people I meet at the market and the opportunity to interact with the local community as well as the vendors.  My first clients, Susanna and Kevin, just had their third child a coup...

I realize that some may be surprised, but broker caravan is really valuable for me.  Of all the listings coming on the market this week, guess how many were pitched at caravan today?  Almost all of them.  So today we had 51 listings, some were "re-caravans" with price reductions of at least 5%, but most were new. So how do you decide which listings to see?  My record is 16 listings in one caravan.  First, if I have a client that has a need that matches the listings, second if it's a property I haven't seen before, third obviously is if they are serving lunch, offering a drawing (like the one home I went to had a $100.00 drawing.  No agent present, lockbox key needed, guess what, there happend to be a neighbor that wanted to see the home, I show up....The listing agent lost out!   How wo...
