A few days ago I had a listing appointment in South Salinas and this meant that I had to drive along the 15 mile stretch between Monterey and Salinas on a road known as the Monterey-Salinas Highway aka Highway 68 and this also meant that I woud probably see lots of cows, hawks, deer, coyote(sometimes) and various other wildlife - if you pay attention -- you also have to pay attention to the road! On this particular day and much to my surprise the Lupine was in bloom! For many years I lived along this road and for the many years that I drove the Monterey-Salinas Highway and when the Lupine are in bloom, I told myself "I am going to stop and enjoy it and take a few photos" most of those photos are in my head. But on this particular day, I had my camera in the front seat and I made a quick...

I have lived on The Monterey Peninsula my entire life.  My family has deep roots in the fishing industry in Monterey.  My Grandfather, Pietro Vermi came to the USA from Sicily.  He was a sardine fisherman, and my Grandmother Angelina Scardina, Vermi worked in the canneries.  I remember all of the stories of the old days while I was growing up.  My Grandmother said the whole town used to stink!   I also vividly remember when Cannery Row was a dismal, quiet place with rows of dingy burned out buildings reminding all of us what a thriving place Cannery Row once was.     Last weekend, MOM or Museum of Monterey, presented a special screening of the movie "Street Of The Sardine" which is the last visual testimony of the once thriving Cannery Row.  "Street Of The Sardine" was shot on 16mm i...

I had a child six months ago and wanted to find a way to get out and lose the baby weight.  Going to the gym was not an option with an infant.  I decided that my best option would be to start enjoying the beautiful Monterey Bay Recreation Trail DISCOVER MONTEREY BAY COASTAL RECREATION TRAIL Our office is not far from Cannery Row and the "bike path" as the locals call it.  I park at the office and walk down to the seashore where my son and I enjoy the beautiful scenery and fresh air.  I usually walk down to Lover's Point in Pacific Grove and then turn around and walk towards Monterey and Fisherman's Wharf

If you find a house that you are interested in, make an offer.  This is a fast moving market flooded with buyers, and low inventory.  Properties are receiving multiple offers at over asking price.  One agent in my office has an offer in on a property...it received 17 offers.  I was putting together a tour and most of the properties have been on the market less than 2 days and have received multiple offers.  Don't let this keep you out of the market, just realize that one must go in with their A game, offer highest and best the first time.   Keep in mind that one never wants to pay more for a property than it is appraised at, so make sure that your agent does a thorough comparative market analysis for you before you make an offer.  This will help you to decide what your highest and best ...
