I've been griping to my husband that we needed to visit Lodi ever since Myrl posted her photos of Lodi, because Myrl is my inspiration for fun places to go from Sacramento. She's always tripping out of town somewhere amusing, and Lodi is no exception. We couldn't leave a week ago because that was the day we needed to do blood curves for our diabetic cat, which means we have to be home all day. Every year the annual Parade of Lights in downtown Lodi draws a very large crowd all through the streets.  Chairs are lined up for several blocks and many are placed along the sidewalks hours in advance and some even the night before. There are many floats, trailers, tractors, cars, trucks, etc., all decorated and lit up with lights from many schools, organizations, and businesses. This year I was honored to have a table & chairs reserved for my guests, and my son and I out in front of The Rusted Mic Entertainment House & Bistro. It was very cold out last Thursday night during the parade, but there was hot chocolate and lattes flowing to keep us warm.  For those of us that were brave (or crazy) enough to venture out to watch the parade in person, it was definitely a great show.  But if ... 12/17/2013

Do you drive Highway 12 from Lodi to Highway 5??  Did you know you could get a $288 fine plus traffic school if you do not have your head lights on?  Yes this means during the day!  So many people, me included, drive that stretch of 12 not thinking twice about my headlights.  It wasn't until a friend of mine told me that he got pulled over and given a ticket for not having his headlights on at 12:30 in the afternoon.  He complained to me that it was sunny out and there were no adverse conditions, so we looked it up.  Highway 12 sees a lot of accidents, so they require headlights on at all times just outside of Lodi until Highway 80 in Fairfield!  It is a Highway safety zone!  So do not get caught without your headlights on, or it could cost you a pretty penny!! 10/14/2013

 Wine and Chocolate in Lodi! Two of my favorite things and one of my favorite events (because it includes the both of them) is happening this weekend - Wine and Chocolate in Lodi!  February tends to be a big chocolate month because of Valentines and it has become a tradition to venture down to Lodi for this fun and oh so yummy event.  And from El Dorado Hills it is just over an hour drive!    Over 40 wineries are participating with there own activities such as wine and chocolate pairings, barrel tastings, cellar tours, and live music.
