Singing Carols! Okay, so about a week ago my friend SHARON who is a member of San Dimas/La Verne Soroptimists called me.  I can't remember the exact reason for her call, but she told me the group was going to sing carols for the senior citizens over at La Verne Manor.  Me, being the crazy blonde that I am, invited myself. So today, a grpup of about 11 women headed over to the manor.  I didn't know what to expect other than I remember singing to seniors when I was a little girl in church.  The Soroptimist group is amazing.  Not only did they bring song sheets for all of the residents, they made a Christmas bag full of things like lotion, socks and chocolates for each person there. When we began to sing, every wonderful resident joined in or listened.  And one lady in particular caught my...

LA VERNE REAL ESTATE MARKET WATCH, SEPTEMBER 24-30, 2011  Market Watch       New Listing (10)   Price Change (10)   Back On Market (2)   Backup Offer (1)   Expired (3)   Pending (4)   Sold (5)       Okay, so here flows the information.  Ten new listings with five sold.  Looks like inventory is still strong in LA VERNE.  As a buyer this means that your choices in LA VERNE are picking up a bit.  Sellers, it means that the pricing of your home is extremely critical at this time. In the City of LA VERNEthis past week, there were ten price changes.  It's tough when a bank takes a long time to make up it's mind about sales.  The prices locally are continuing to change and sometimes that means price changes on the homes.  However, if you have a really good agent who knows how to price properly...

Linda's Most Amazing Pizza Series #3 Okay, so it's time for me to write another delicious pizza restaurant review!  I love doing these blogs and people seem to really enjoy reading them to get local ideas for great food. This installment is about WAREHOUSE PIZZA in downtown La Verne.  And their website has interesting little tidbits like THE HISTORY OF PIZZA.   My personal history of WAREHOUSE PIZZA  is that when I was in high school we used to go there quite a bit after school.  What a fun place for high school and college students to hang out.  And their location is conveniently locaed just down the block from University of La Verne. Well, recently I had a couple of occasions to go to WAREHOUSE PIZZA.  And I got to remember my old high school days, the sights, the sounds, the smells.....

La Verne Real Estate Market Watch - September 3-8 2011 **NOTE: FOR SOME REASON THIS BLOG DID NOT POST TO THE PROPER PLACES SO I AM "REBLOGGING" IT. New Listing (14)   Price Change (10)   Back On Market (2)   Backup Offer (6)   Expired (5)   Pending (5)   Sold (3)     Okay, so better late than never - here is this week's LA VERNE MARKET WATCH.  Not bad for a holiday week! Fourteen new listings means that people are gaining confidence in the LA VERNE REAL ESTATE MARKET.  And it seemd to me to be picking up as well.  And three have actually made it through the sale process and become a closed sale.  This is also good news, especially because it's hard to close during weeks with a holiday in them. Pending homes mean that five homes are now in escrow and on their way to becoming closed sales...

Linda's Most Amazing Pizza Series #2 Okay, so it's time for the next PIZZA REVIEW.  If you missed the first one, you can read itHERE.  I have always loved pizza in any way shape or form.  I even love the frozen kind so I can cook it crunchy like I like it!  Maybe it's because when I was growing up neither of my parents liked pizza so I could only have it when they were going out for the night.  Pizza is the next best thing to Mexican Food! Anyway,  my husband's favorite pizaa is at a full-service Italian Restaurant called PIZZA N STUFF.  PIZZA N STUFF is located in La Verne - right in my neck of the woods.  I'm convinced that my husband likes it because he doesn't like to drive very far for anything.  We tease him about living inside of a 6-mile radius bubble. The reason I like PIZZA N ...

MADE IN AMERICA - COULD IT REALLY MEAN LA VERNE? Okay, so a while I ago I watched a segment on a television new program (I know, not another article!) about jobs and manufacturing in America.  What the segment did was take an average American family and kick them out of their home.  The show then replaced their entire home with the same stuff, just all Made in America.  It was really cool to see the family come home and inspect their new things.  The show also talked about how hard it was to FIND things made in America let alone replace everything.  Made in America is really expensive here and some things were not available at all.  Kinda sad. So, when I came across this ARTICLE (you knew I was getting here didn't you) about a manufacturere right here in LA VERNE, I was excited.  GAINEY...

LINDA'S MOST AMAZING PIZZA SERIES #1   Okay, so I was thinking that since it's that time of the year again, football games, kids back to school, looking forward (way forward) to the holidays, it's also time for pizza again!  So I'm going to do a local pizza series for just that very reason.  It's based on family favorites, all of us have a different one, nut I'll only choose three or four.  After all, there are seven of us! This week I'll begin with Mama Patrillo's in LA VERNE.  This is Lucy and my favorite.  Mama Patrillo's is a full-service Italian Restaurant. They start you out with homemade bread with the oil and vinegar to dip it in.  Sometimes we ask for butter because it's really good that way, too. Lucy and I go here quite a bit when we're by ourselves.  We start with their a...

LA VERNE REAL ESTATE MARKET WATCH - AUGUST 13-19, 2011  Market Watch New Listing (9)   Price Change (14)   Back On Market (5)   Backup Offer (5)   Expired (5)   Pending (4)   Sold (2)   Okay, so this is another exciting week for real estate in LA VERNE.  Nine new listings and two sold.  A little bit different from the sister-city SAN DIMAS.   In SAN DIMAS there were more sold than coming onto the market.  But as you can see here, quite the opposite is true.  Only two home completed the sale process with nine new listings and five back on the market.  This city is moving pretty slowly at getting rid of their inventory.  This may be due to the banks timetable or other factors. This week four went pending (into escrow) and five went into back up status (an offer was submitted to the bank) ...

BONITA HIGH SCHOOL - ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL! Okay, so most of my kids are through school now.  We had one at San Dimas High School, Two at Glendora High and one so far at Bonita. I've got a senior left, so not so sadly, it's my last year of filling out ALL THOSE BACK TO SCHOOL FORMS!  Yuck! But some kids are starting their first year in high school.  They feel older and wiser because, naturally, they're in High School now, so that makes them smarter!  (Ya, smarter than their parents, they think!)  Today is registration for some of the local schools, including Bonita High.  Of course Bonita High is in green, because, if you don't already know, Green is one of the high school colors.  (Think spirit!) But one of my personal favorite things in high school was the FOOTBALL GAMES....

LA VERNE REAL ESTATE MARKET WATCH - AUGUST 6-12, 2011      Market Watch       New Listing (12)   Price Change (15)   Back On Market (5)   Backup Offer (7)   Expired (3)   Pending (4)   Sold (7)     Okay, so I truly thought that LA VERNE would be as slow as some of the other neighboring cities.  I reasoned that maybe people are getting a bit nervous because of the issues with the federal budget and the downgrade in our nation's credit rating.  The financial institutions have been hit as well and I think people are unsure of what will come of all this in the near future.  It makes sense for yet another slow down, if you think about it logically.  (YA, me trying to be logical!) Anyway, there were 12 new listings on the market.  Moving along at a great clip.  Seven have sold which means the...
