La Quinta has quietly evolved into one of Southern California’s most desirable luxury destinations, drawing interest from high-profile buyers seeking privacy, space, and a true resort-style lifestyle. Recent national real estate coverage has once again put a spotlight on what many locals already know: La Quinta offers a rare blend of exclusivity and livability that’s increasingly hard to find. One of the strongest appeals is privacy. La Quinta is known for its gated communities, custom estates, and thoughtfully planned neighborhoods that feel secluded without being isolated. Dramatic mountain backdrops, wide open spaces, and low-density development create a calm, residential environment—very different from more urban desert cities.Another key factor is access to elite amenities. World-cl...

From time to time, I think it’s important to pause and refocus on why we do this work.Real estate is not just about contracts or transactions—it’s about helping people make thoughtful, informed decisions during some of the most meaningful transitions of their lives. Whether someone is purchasing their first home, downsizing, investing, or selling a property they’ve owned for many years, guidance and advocacy truly matter.Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to gain experience across many market cycles and property types here in the Coachella Valley. That background has shaped how I serve my clients today—with patience, strong negotiation skills, and a commitment to protecting their best interests at every step.As we move forward, I’m recommitting my efforts to being a resource for seriou...

Thankful November-Grateful forLa Quinta Country ClubWe joined the La Quinta Country Club in 2000. It is hard to believe that this is our 26th season here.  When we became members, I had no way to know how grateful I would be for the friendships we would make and the years of fun we would savor.  I also did not know that I would begin a career here that has spanned 19 years in real estate.  I began as an assistant for another agent and at the time, many of our friends from the Pasadena area were discovering La Quinta CC, joining and buying homes here.  I decided that it was time for me to get to work!  Once I secured my license, it took a few years to find my footing.  I was working with clients all over the valley.  I had a lease listing in Ranch Mirage, sales of condos in Palm Desert, ...

Thankful November: My Assistant-CelesteIn May of 2022, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  It was in early stages, but after several MRI assisted biopsies, tests, and appointments through the summer,  I chose to have a double mastectomy.  I did not want to live with the uncertainty and fear of wondering when cancer would return.  My surgeon and oncologist agreed that it was the best option.  Some time that stressful summer, I received a phone call from a neighbor down the street named Celeste Varela.  I knew of her, she was a single-Mom who had raised her daughter in our neighborhood- and I knew she was a licensed Realtor. We had run into each other at real estate classes and of course I had seen her coming and going.  But I didn't know her.  She said she had heard about my diagnosis a...

Speechless Sunday:  LQCC Southern ViewsWhen searching for a home in the La Quinta area, southern views are often times a priority.  Many buyers come from cold climates and want a sunny patio, or pool area during their time here in the winter.  Luckily our neighborhood is surrounded by the Santa Rosa Mountains... and the views are exceptional in all directions! Photo by K. SPEECHLESS SUNDAY: View from the TIPSMost of the time when I play golf, I head from the 12th green straight across to the 13th tee.  But now, when the course is closed for overseeding, I am walking the entire course and following the cart paths.  If you head back to the tips, on #13, you are treated to this gorgeous view I captured yesterday!

La Quinta Country Club :  The Early YearsIn 1958, the land and area known as La Quinta Country Club was a barren, windswept, treeless desert.  But the dreamers who bought the small boutique La Quinta Hotel had plans for lush fairways, sparkling lakes, and a playground for the stars...on a Championship golf course.  1,000 acres turned into just that.  One of the founders, Leonard Ettelson, a Chicago attorney, said that the hotel was small and unprofitable, and they didn't expect to make money on it.  "But we do expect to make money off the real estate."Located in one of the most picturesque settings, surrounded by the dramatic Santa Rosa Mountains, these visionaries saw what others had not.  A dream and opportunity to create a beautiful place to live and play.  A residential subdivision ...

My Most Heartfelt ❤️ ... Aren't they all at LQCC?I am truly blessed to live, work, and play in La Quinta Country Club.  Our neighborhood surrounds a prestigious golf course, one of the oldest in the Palm Springs area.  The Bob Hope Classic was played here, and now continues at the AMEX PGA event every January.  We are surrounded by the Santa Rosa mountains, and nestled in the heart of La Quinta, close to Old Town, the La Quinta Resort, golf, dining, shopping, tennis, and hiking nearby. Most of my clients through the years have been retired and enjoying the last years of their life playing golf, socializing, and having fun living the desert life.  Because of this, when they reach the end of their time here-- one of them becomes ill, or passes, or they are no longer able to travel to the ...

Wordless Wednesday:  Summer La Quinta LQCCMost homeowners and members of La Quinta Country Club leave during the summer months. For those of us who live here full time we languish in the slower pace, the balmy nights, the quiet sunsets, and sometimes a thunder storm!  Cloudy skies are rare here and I was enthralled by this gorgeous cloud yesterday!

When I began my career in real estate nearly 35 years ago, I’ll admit—I was a little shy, a bit of an introvert, and more than a little self-conscious as I put up signs for my very first open house. That moment of uncertainty quickly shifted when a mentor shared something with me that forever changed how I viewed this business:“You do realize you are here to help people with what may very well be the largest transaction of their lives.”That simple truth reframed everything. Real estate wasn’t just about houses, signs, or contracts—it was about people, trust, and responsibility. It was about guiding families through some of the most important decisions they would ever make, whether buying their first home, selling a cherished property, or investing in their future. From that point forward...

The La Quinta real estate market showed a dynamic mix of activity and pricing shifts this July, offering both opportunities and insights for buyers and sellers alike.A total of 83 homes were sold in July 2025, marking an increase of 13 compared to the same month last year. This rise in sales reflects a growing interest in the area and a healthy pace of transactions. The median price of homes sold was $750,000, which represents an 8.33% decrease from July 2024. While prices have softened slightly, this shift may present a window of opportunity for buyers looking to enter the market. Meanwhile, the median list price stood at $854,500, suggesting that sellers remain confident in the long-term value of their properties.Sales ranged from a modest $255,000 to a remarkable $12.1 million, with t...

Focusing on What You Love! ❤️ When I began my Real Estate career 18 years ago I was all over the place.  All over our valley I mean.  The Coachella Valley contains a string of cities that run from the west in  Palm Springs to the eastern towns of Coachella and Mecca.  I have lived in Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, and now am happily in La Quinta.  I worked where-ever I could and took listings many, many miles from where I lived. I learned about neighborhoods over an hour away. As my business grew I learned some valuable lessons.  I was spreading myself too thin.  I needed to listen to my that voice in my head that said "focus on what you know and love".   I began referring business to local agents that covered the Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, and Palm Desert neighborhoods.  I wanted my cli...

Buyer Broker Compensation under the new NAR rules - Can We Talk? One of the biggest changes we as licensed real estate professionals have had to pivot quickly with is the change to cooperating buyer broker compensation - most notably the solicitation of such.I have attended just about every webinar possible in my Realtor board areas to make sure I have the information straight. And as it turns out, it's perhaps just a little crooked on the edges.  So to speak. The specific stipulation, from my attendance of these webinars with real estate attorneys in attendance for affirmation, is that compensation for a buyer's broker (and tenant for that matter), is now a negotiation point between SELLER TO BUYER, or SELLER TO BUYER'S BROKER, but cannot be set between LISTING BROKER to SELLING BROKER.Oh...

Our La Quinta weather is dreamy most of the year.  Really.  Our winters are warm and mild and we have sunshine when the rest of the country is piled with snow.  We play golf in shorts in January.  That's why so many people spend the "season" here and leave their frigid midwest, or Pacific northwest homes behind.  The summer here is hot and like most years we have a "last blast" of heat in late September or October before the fall weather settles in.  Last week we had record breaking temps at 108° + and of course, I'm taking advantage and swimming my daily laps.  I don't mind the heat- in fact I really love the hot desert days and balmy nights.  Fall will arrive soon enough... I'm still drinking ice coffee... but it does have pumpkin spice in it!🎃

La Quinta Country Club:  3 ACTIVE LISTINGS!Inventory is at an all time low right now at La Quinta Country Club-- with only 3 active listings on the market!  There are over 450 homes in this vibrant neighborhood which surrounds the private La Quinta Country Club golf course.  With the summer winding down and temperatures beginning to cool, listings should be coming.  I have had 3 sellers contact me in the last few weeks and we have discussed the current market- with plans to list and sell as fall arrives.  We are a seasonal market and activity usually slows in the summer when most snowbirds and part time residents leave.  Our golf course has been under construction over the last few months with the installation of new irrigation system.  When October arrives the entire course will be clo...
