Green Real Estate in San Diego I just got finished reading an article on Green Real Estate by Forbes. The article was primarily about green real estate, real estate that is built to be environmentally friendly. Green meaning that the home is built to minimize its carbon footprint on the earth which would reduce the amount of carbon dioxide gas contributing to global warming. Some of the building design techniques are solar, recycled rainwater, solar chimneys, rooftop gardens, natural ventilation and more. After reading this article I would say that San Diego could really use this new green technology in its new home building industry and refitting of existing homes. There is no better way to get to know your neighborhood than driving without a map and getting lost. When I arrived in La Jolla, California in 1976, I was captivated by the beauty of the Ocean that seem to be all around you  La Jolla is surrounded by hills with great ocean views. I always find it fascinating when landmarks become controversial. It might be the home of a famous, or infamous person, or the site of a gruesome murder. Celebrity homes become landmarks, as do homes built by well-know architects (homes built by Neutra in Los Angeles, for example, or the Fallingwater home by Frank Lloyd Wright in Pennsylvania).  The La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club opened in 1927 as the La Jolla Beach & Yacht Club.  A gentleman by the name of Frederick William Kellogg purchased the property in 1934 to create an oceanfront resort. Kellogg changed the emphasis on the club to that of an exclusive oceanfront tennis resort to attract out of town visitors, as well as La Jollan's.  In 1940 the responsibilty for the Club fell to William Scripps Kellogg, Frederick"s son.  William was the driving force behind the resort's success as a tennis and vacation destination.  He oversaw the construction of the Playa Del Oro Apartment and the F.W.
