Stanislaus County Real Estate - Why Live in Stanislaus County? While I am a Stanislaus County Short Sale Specialist I also live in Stanislaus County. I have lived here my entire life. (And that's a long time) There actually is a lot of history in Stanislaus county and the near by foothills of the Sierra Nevada range. In eastern Stanislaus County is the small town of Knights Ferry. Knights Ferry is on the Stanislaus River and was established in the mid 1800's as a ferry crossing. The ferry was eventually replaced with a covered bridge. The covered bridge that still stands today was built in 1863 and spans 330 feet. It is the longest covered bridge west of the Mississippi River. Today the bridge is closed to all but foot traffic.
