This past weekend in Imperial Beach saw tens of thousands of people invade the Imperial Beach pier and sands for the 30th U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition. Along with lots of vendors selling unusual wares, there were many more vendors selling fair-style food, of which two of my favorites are the Oriental shishkabobs and the grilled corn on the cob. San Diego is full of good-old-fashion-summer-fun.  The 27th ANNUAL U.S. OPEN SANDCASTLE COMPETITION in Imperial Beach, California will be held on Sunday July 13, 2008 with professional and amateur sand carving teams competing in the largest sand castle building contest for more than $22,000 in cash prizes.
