Afternoon Tea In Hermosa Beach Last week, I attended an Afternoon Tea in Hermosa Beach in honor of our friend Lisa who was visiting from from Atlanta.  The attendees each brought a savory, sweet or scones and the hostess created an incredible table setting with vintage china, a tablecloth embroidered in Austria and fresh flowers. Our Afternoon Tea included wild blueberry & date/pecan scones (from L'Amande Bakery in Torrance), 3 different kinds of tea sandwiches, deviled eggs, stuffed peppers, nut cookies, lemon tea cookies, cheese crackers, fresh fruit, a plate of petite desserts, homemade lemon curd, plum jam, devonshire cream and Irish butter.   Afterwards, we sat out in the garden and enjoyed more tea and conversation. Afternoon Tea is such a relaxing tradition and fairly easy to set...

When I moved to the Los Angeles area 25 years ago Hermosa Beach became my favorite of the beach cities. I liked to shop in Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach was closer to Palos Verdes so I frequented many of the shops in Hollywood Riviera and dined at several of the local eateries. But Hermosa felt like a beach town. With its long stretches of sand and surf, quaint little shops and array of local diners it was a fun place to spend a relaxed day at the beach, and it still is. Although many of the beach cottages have been replaced with beach villas and mansions, the relaxed attitude and informality still lets everyone know Hermosa is still a beach town at heart. Hermosa Beach had a very hot year for income property. The surging housing market of the Beach Cities combined with the limited availability of buildings for sale, made for a competitive pricing environment. Market Report - Sand Section, Hermosa Beach Homes for Sale 12-2013 The Sand section of Hermosa Beach is running pretty evenly between buyers and sellers, with active listings just under the number of sold listings in November of 2013.  The Pending number is lower, however, supporting the typical December market as being less busy for homes and more for ho-ho-ho'ing. As a general rule, we would encourage selllers to wait until the new year and just before Spring; though once the other homes come on the market then, a listing risks getting caught in the shuffle.  If it will be difficult to wait to list, sellers can take comfort in knowing that buyers do watch this market, and an appropriately priced listing will sell quickly when it hits. Please feel free to contact my team to buy or sell...
