One of the Best thing that is happening for Home owners is the price increase, many of them are going to end this year with some equity.   Since March 2012 the home listing inventory has been decreasing every month and I believe this is going to continue for the rest of 2013.   Granada Hills Homes Sold in 2012     Sales, Number ofMonth2009201020112012 Jan 39 39 38 43 Feb 24 34 38 31 Mar 41 35 39 37 Apr 56 47 38 47 May 35 51 32 42 Jun 51 50 46 40 Jul 67 35 33 38 Aug 53 43 36 46 Sep 37 43 38 33 Oct 35 38 39 51 Nov 44 35 37 47 Dec 46 33 46 37

California median home price posts first year-to-year increase in 16 months; low inventory demonstrates limited need for bulk REO sales, C.A.R. says LOS ANGELES (April 16) – California home sales declined in March from February’s pace, while the median home price snapped a 16-month annual price decline and posted its first year-over-year gain, the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (C.A.R.). “While home sales were down statewide, the housing market continued to perform at a solid pace by historical standards. In fact, sales jumped significantly in most regions of the state, with many areas experiencing double-digit gains,” said C.A.R. President LeFrancis Arnold. “Tight inventory and robust home sales, particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area, fueled the substantial increase in the Ma...

The Demographics of the Jobs Recovery: Employment Gains by Race, Ethnicity, Gender and Nativity   Two years after the U.S. labor market hit bottom in 2009, the economic recovery has yielded slow but steady gains in overall employment. However, the pace of the jobs recovery varies across demographic groups. Hispanics and Asians are gaining jobs at a faster rate than blacks and whites, foreign-born workers are outpacing native-born workers, and men are faring better than women in the recovery, according to new Pew Research Center analysis of government data.   For the most part, the disparate trends in the jobs recovery from 2009 to 2011 reflect the rapidly changing demographics of the American workforce. Groups whose working-age populations are growing the most have seen the biggest empl...

Mortgage applications, a future gauge of home buying, had a sharp jump as more consumers rushed to take advantage of low interest rates, the Mortgage Bankers Association reports.   For the week ending Dec. 2, mortgage applications increased 12.8 percent. Applications for home purchase jumped 8.3 percent from a week earlier while applications for refinancing soared 15.3 percent.   Of the home purchase applications, 85.5% were for fixed-rate 30-year loans for fha and conventional loans. Fha loan was at 3.875% fixed for 30 years with zero points, that is a great interest rate to have and hold for a while. Now the time to refinance if you have a loan at 4.875% or higher, you will save money on the interest paid on the loan and on your monthly mortgage payment as well.   "Coming out of the T...

New-home sales for single-family homes rose 1.3 percent in October, marking the best pace for new-home sales activity since this May, the U.S. Commerce Department reports.   Following the sector's worst year for new-home activity on record last year, several recent reports are suggesting a pick-up in new construction.   "Builders have been seeing some marginal improvement in sales activity over the past few months, particularly in select markets where consumer confidence is higher due to improved economic conditions," Bob Nielsen, chairman of the National Association of Home Builders, said in a statement. "While this trend is encouraging, overall sales activity is still well below normal due to the effects of overly tight credit conditions for builders and buyers, the continued flow of ...
