There were an unusually high number of helicopters circling my town of Foothill Ranch today. By unusually high, I mean there was at least one compared to the usual zero. The news services reported that a man had been walking in Whiting Ranch, our local wilderness park, when he came across a couple mountain lion cubs, which he decided to pet because he thought they were cute (!!!). At that moment, the mama lion came by, whacked the guy with her paw, then ran away with her cubs. After the man reported it to the local authorities, the park was closed down and officials went in on foot and by air to try to find the mountain lion, which they didn't.
