2023 Wavecrest Woodie MeetSeptember 21 - 24 The world’s longest running woodie festival takes place September 21st through the 24th in Encinitas. This is the 44th annual event! The Wavecrest Woodie Meet kicks off Thursday evening with the last of the Encinitas Classic Car Nights for 2023 from 4:30 – 8:00. This event is in downtown Encinitas along the Coast Road (N. Coast Highway 101). Friday night is the “Meet and Greet” at 4:30 to 6:30 pm at the host hotel, the Encinitan Hotel and Suites (formerly the Best Western). The hotel is just a short distance from Moonlight Beach, just east of the Coast Road. Saturday is the big Woodie Meet with a couple hundred Woodies on display in the parking lot above Moonlight Beach from 8 am until 3 pm. 2022 Wavecrest Woodie Meet in EncinitasSeptember 16, 17 and 18 The world’s longest running woodie festival takes place September 16th through the 18th in Encinitas. This is the 43rd event! The Wavecrest Woodie Meet kicks off Thursday evening with the last Encinitas Classic Car Night for 2022. Friday night is the Welcome Party at 5 pm at the host hotel, the Best Western. The hotel is a short distance from Moonlight Beach. This is a “No Host Taco Truck,” with beer, wine, and other beverages available. Saturday is the big Woodie meet with around 200 Woodies on display in the parking lot above the beach from 8 am until 2 pm. Wavecrest Woodie Meet is Saturday September 19, 2015 The world’s largest and longest running woodie festival is this weekend in Encinitas, California. This is the 36th Annual Wavecrest Woodie Meet this Saturday September 21, 2015 at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, just north of the downtown area. I was there a couple of years ago and it was amazing! This particular woodie meet, held the 3rd Saturday in September each year, is reportedly the largest of its kind in the world, with around 300 of these famed cars (the majority were built by Ford), and thousands of car admirers.  There are a number of prize categories, and crowds gather to admire, trade stories, surf, barbecue and just hang out at one of the best beaches in Southern California. The event officially begins at 8 am and runs unti... 09/15/2015

Tallest Pine Tree in Encinitas Gets Decorated   The tallest pine tree in Encinitas, and reportedly the general area, located at Moonlight Beach, was decorated with lights recently, as it has been for 19 years.   I haven’t seen it close-up at night yet but surely will, and you can see it from quite a distance along the coast   There’s even a Santa Elmo at the base of the almost-100 foot tree!   This tree was planted back in 1942 and by all reports is the tallest in the area. The City of Encinitas pays the electric bill each year for the tree to be lit. The tree even has it’s own address because they needed to install an electric meter.   You’ll find the tallest tree in Encinitas at 406 4th Street, at the corner of 3rd and C across from the parking lot at Moonlight Beach.   HAPPY HOLIDAYS   12/13/2013
