The City of San Diego, California Gets Five Star Hotel! The Grand Del Mar resort in Carmel Valley is the first hotel in San Diego County to receive the coveted five star rating from the Forbes Travel Guide making it one of nine hotels in the state of California with such a distinction. The designation, announced this week puts the Grand Del Mar in the same league as the esteemed Beverly Hills Hotel and the Four Season Hotel in San Francisco. The 249 room hotel joins its spa and restaurant counterparts, which received their five star designations in 2011 and 2007.
