A Morning Visitor Today in Carlsbad  Our house backs up to a canyon which offers pleasant views as opposed to looking at houses, and abundant wildlife and birds. We don't often see coyotes during the day but hear them at night on a fairly regular basis. This one was about 50 feet beyond our back fence this morning and didn't seem particular troubled that I was nearby.

Throwback Thursday: Bee Swarm in La Costa Carlsbad  I've seen a few swarms of bees over the years, back in New England and here in Southern California. Perhaps you have, too!.  But this was the most amazing. The bees collected into this huge cone in a pine tree at our first house here in Carlsbad, in La Costa, about 10 years ago. It probably lasted about an hour or so, and then within a few minutes they were all gone. So glad I saw it before it disappeared - from inside the house of course - and had my camera handy. Bees are certainly interesting creatures!

The Baby Hummers Have Arrived in Carlsbad  I have a new listing hitting the market in the Calavera Hills area of  Carlsbad, probably in a couple of weeks.  The out of town seller is working on a number of interior improvements, as well as cleaning up the back yard. I was over there a  week ago before work started and discovered the hummingbird nest in the vine on the fence. The landscaper was careful to not trim the vine right by the nest. The baby hummingbirds have just now arrived - 2 of them. No, I don't know if they are boys or girls but they are pretty cute.

The Mighty Untouchables at the Last TGIF Concerts in the Parks in Carlsbad   Summer is coming to an end, at least for the free TGIF Concerts in the Parks in Carlsbad, one of the most popular things to do here in the summer.   The 9 free TGIF concerts on consecutive Friday nights in 4 of Carlsbad’s best parks come to an end this Friday August 22 with The Mighty Untouchables.   Al fresco dining with a couple thousand residents and visitors, beautiful weather, Opportunity Drawings for great prizes, and a terrific band will make for a fitting end to this concert series.   And it’s FREE (except for the raffle tickets).   The last TGIF Concert in the Park will take place at the Calavera Hills Community Park (Glasgow and Carlsbad Village Drive) from 6 – 8 PM (although being the last night my g...
