"The Greatest Moment of my Life" - Evan Lysacek - U.S. Men's Ice Skating Gold! To "Quad or not to Quad" - that is the question.  Someone once said that "you're not a "man" if you don't do a "quad", that man is now wearing a Silver.  And guess what?  Evan Lysacek of the U.S. wins Gold! Ohhh I have to say that this was also one of my favorite Olympic Moments!  (Robert Gauthier - Los Angeles Times)       Sad to say there was and is some controvery playing around about the Medals - big surprise eh? Jaysey Jay Anderson in the Fog - Wins Gold for canada in the Men's Snowboarding Parallel Grand Slalom Jaysey Jay Anderson...the two-time parallel slalom world champion came from behind in the two-man final on Saturday to win his first Olympic gold - does it get any better for this Canadian home crowd on the last day of competition at Cypress Mountain?  It was a white-knuckle showdown that lifted the screaming crowd to their feet. Chants of "Jasey, Jasey" echoed from the bleachers after the race. Earlier in the day, Anderson faced elimination after finishing 20th in his first qualifying run. But he responded with the fourth-fastest time on his second leg to crack the top 16 and advance to the final rounds.  That's one of the things I love about the 'never give up' attitude of the Olympia...

"We Want the U.S.!" The Canadian Crowd Chants - I have to Say the Slovaks were fabulous - I hope they get the Bronze. Final score Canada 3 - Slovakia 2! Definitely more suspenseful then the Russian game - or the Finish Doomsday Game today, but I'm glad it's over!  Now we have Sunday to look forward to!  One thing we know for sure is, somebody in North America will be celebrating!  It doesn't get too much more exciting then that!   My favorite view!                                                                      If you or someone you know is thinking of Buying or Selling property in Cultus Lake, Chilliwack, Hope, Abbotsford, Langley or anywhere in the Fraser Valley Area of B.C. - or if you would like more information please give Liz  Moras of Landmark Realty Chilliwack a call at- 60...

Charles Hamelin wins Gold for Canada in the Men's Short Track - with Francois-Louis Tremblay bringing in the Bronze! A crash involving all four finalists in the last lap of the 500-metre men's short track cast the outcome in doubt, but after minutes of deliberation, the officials declared Canadian Charles Hamelin the winner, and gave the bronze medal to his teammate, Francois-Louis Tremblay. American skater Apolo Anton Ohno was disqualified in the final, apparently for causing the crash in the final turn. Gee I'm sorry to hear that - I love Apolo ! He raised his hands with and smiled with his signature"what can you do" sheepish grin. :-) But I'm thrilled that Canada picked up the Gold and Bronze!  Canada now has 9 Golds! (Earlier this evening, Hamelin set an Olympic record in his quarte...

The U.S. Hockey Team Wins a Reservation to the Gold Medal Finals!  I wonder what that was all about? The announcer says before the game starts:  "One thing we know for sure is that this will be a 'low scoring' game".....Boy did he miss the mark.  Wow that was embarassing and how incredibly deflating for the Fins eh?  I guess  Miikka Kiprusoff will be eating crow for a while.  Mind you the coaches for the Fins aren't exactly blamesless.  What they hey?         Nevertheless I have to say I am glad that Miettenen got a chance to score......after a 6 goal beating.........at least the Fins got a chance to save some face with that one goal on Thomas. (cutie patootie Miller was resting for the game against  Canada  the winner of the Canada/Slovakia final! Well winning wasn't a surprise - but h...

by Mike Andruff - Vancouver212228      On Day 15 we met with visitor host Wayne Hamill. Wayne and his family have been the family image of the highly successful "I Believe" campaign promoted by CTV, the Olympic Broadcaster. His family were among the first to stand up and say, "Welcome" to the world as hosts. His family's hospitality and generousity is a great example to us all. Here is our presentation from Day 15:      For more videos from the series, click here.

No, we're not talking the 2010 Winter Olympics, though the city is electric and the most exciting I've ever seen it! Awash in red and Oh Canada is being sung everywhere! The Economist has again voted Vancouver the World's Most Liveable City! Canada does exceptionally well in The Economist's Intelligence Unit Ranking due to its perfect scores in health care and education and achieving 98 out of 100 points. On a sunny and balmy 12 degrees in February, the mountains and ocean are certainly breathtaking. read the rest of this post

No doubt the current Olympics has and continue to dazzle people with the drama (some outside of the venues) but somehow lost amongst the sports accomplishments remains the face that Vancouver touted this Olympics as the Greenest ever. It seems that China also made that claim a couple years ago. Instead of getting into a comparison of this green aspect versus that sustainable item, we took a look at the Vancouver Convention Center West, which marks the World’s First Convention Center to Achieve LEED Platinum Rating. Yes, we’ve discussed our feeling about the LEED label and how we would like seeing more money going toward sustainable aspects versus a LEED plaque but nonetheless they built an impressive structure, which currently hosts the international media for the Olympic games. When th...

Just released by BCREA Gold medal recovery limited by economy, affordability Residential units sales through the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) in BC are forecast to increase six per cent to 90,100 units in 2010, before edging back three per cent to 87,500 units in 2011. MLS® residential unit sales sprinted from an annualized rate of 50,000 units during the first quarter of 2009 to 112,000 units during the fourth quarter. However, waning pent-up demand and eroding affordability is expected to moderate the pace of home sales going forward, particularly on the South Coast. While market performance in Victoria, Vancouver and the Fraser Valley markets were largely responsible for pulling the provincial aggregate significantly higher last year, MLS® residential sales are expected to grow m...
