June Weather Forcast For Tucson, AZ It's that time of year when I start taking photos of my car thermometer again.  Yesterday, the final day of May 2014 went out with a bang! Weather this week is not for the faint at heart! I received an email this morning from one of my Seattle, WA clients and she asked, "How do you cope?" Well...first off...sunscreen.  And a hat.  And sunglasses. And...WATER. Two - plan your daily activities accordingly.  For instance, this isn't the best week to go out house hunting...unless you go early mornings.  And...take WATER.  I'm thinking I have plenty of paperwork to do! Three - I do mall walking rather than traverse the byways and pathways of Gladden Farms, Marana AZ this time of year.  It's refreshing, you get to do people watching which makes the time fly...

The Pima County Fair is one of the most anticipated annual events of the year in Tucson – in its 103rd year – the fair runs from April 17th until 27th at Pima County Fairgrounds at I-10 and Houghton Road. What are the best things about the fair?  Well the rides of course, but coming in tops on the list – the food – you can find anything fried, battered, cold, creamy, sweet and almost anything on a stick!  Another fun thing about the fair for non-ride go-ers – a wide display of local artists, crafts and bakers items. 5 things to know about the Pima County Fair: Get discount tickets for rides ahead of time or check the website for discount days.  For instance, Frys Food stores sells coupons – 10 rides for $10 for the next two days – considering most rides are $4-5 a piece – that’s a deal....

This is a great way to get a first-hand experience of what their communities have to offer. Even in the summer when it is brutally hot - Tucson still offers a place where you can do "almost anything all the time" outdoors! Now in the summer - you have to be smart - and all that means is - start early - even before the sun comes up (and in the summer, the sun can be up before 5am sometimes!) - and bring plenty of water - and your cell phone in case you run into trouble. So what is almost anything outdoors that Tucson offers? Tops on the list?  Cycling.  From Mt Lemmon - to long stretches of bike path lanes, to parks such as Saguaro Loop east, or even a long ride out up Oracle Road to the city of Oracle or way out east, a ride from Houghton Road all along Old Spanish Trail - a cyclist of any level can find just about any path to ride on - at any time of day.  As for cycling even...

Homemade Tortillas In Tucson, AZ To share a little history, a tortilla is a thin flatbread made from corn or wheat flour. It is made with an unleavened, water based dough, which is then pressed and cooked. Tortillas are a staple ingredient in tacos, burritos, fajitas, and enchiladas. “49ers”.  That is typically how locals will refer to the 49ers Country Estates located in the Tanque Verde Valley on Tucson’s northeast side of town.  It is a unique residential area nestled in a mesquite grove, with a beautiful golf course and an old-fashioned sense of community. The subdivision and property on which the golf course is located were established in 1960.  By 1963 there were 16 homes in the community.  Today, combining all the divisions of the community, there are over 700 homes – new and “established”. Here are 5 things to know about 49ers country club: 1)  The HOA fee is only $50 a year! 2)  There are five subdivisions in 49ers: Forty Niners Country Club Estates, Forty Niners Country Club Estates II, Forty Niner Country Club Estates III, Forty Niners Guest Ranch Estates...

This week, besides just basketball, there is something else going on at the University of Arizona in Tucson - college visits from incoming students/parents. Of course, after the decision is made to attend the university - the next big question is - "Where should my student live?"   Purchasing a home for your college student to live in during their enrollment at the University of Arizona can be a smart move to make. On-campus student housing is always in short supply and rentals near the university can get pricey. For many parents, purchasing a home for their student is cheaper than paying four years of often over-priced rent near the campus. Here are some options for homes near the University of Arizona that can be a rental home for your student now - and a rental investment for later: ...

Mexico, The Economy, and Arizona...in Brief A representative from the Consul of Mexico shared a great slide-show report with us yesterday morning, March 19, 2014. He pointed out the Mexico has a growing economy,  is very open to trade, importing and exporting, and has a free trade zone with the Pacific Alliance, which includes Chile, Columbia, Mexico and Peru.  Costa Rica is currently working to join as well. Mexico offers great location and low freight costs.  The representative mentioned that they offer door to door delivery in less than a week, whereas China can take up to 6 weeks. As we know, the Mexican/Arizona border has significant issues, which are of constant concern and priority.  Did you know Mexico purchases more US products than all other countries, except for Canada?  And...

If you're new to the desert southwest, chances are your allergies are going crazy right now. A warmer winter, combined with the spring time winds have kicked up all sorts of nasty stuff a lot earlier than usual. Yesterday, the dust was so heavy that the mountains surrounding Tucson were almost blocked out. (Due, in part to massive dust storms to the east of us in Texas and New Mexico.)  Yesterday was a tough one for us desert natives - I can only imagine how bad it was for new transplants. Every out of state buyer I've worked with gets the same warning from me: make sure that you prepare yourself for a bad allergy hit in the spring. And, it goes without fail that one of my clients gets in touch with me to say, "Boy, you weren't kidding!" So, what do I tell new Tucsonans? 1. Get ready to...

Now, they have 46 stores and 3 franchises in 17 states and as of 2012, an annual revenue of $81.6 million. Tomorrow, they're kicking off their anniversary celebrations - starting with the University store (Speedway and Campbell), the eastside Tucson store on Saturday and then we get to celebrate with them on Sunday at their downtown store! The downtown store is 2 doors down from us. One of the things we first did when we moved into our office last year was get to know the business owners and their staffs. It may sound biased but the crew that runs this store is great. They really are. They're good community business partners, act...

March weather in Tucson is nearly perfect for all outdoor activities!  For March 2014 in Tucson - there are at least 16 5k fun runs or walk events that I know about! Many, really just for fun, and most benefiting charities, such as the Susan Komen Race for the Cure which happens annual at the end of March. Here are 5 Tucson 5k Fun Run events to consider being a part of: Marana Run Walk on Saturday March 1st - this is a 5k - with an option to do a 10k but also this year, two wheelchair events have been added.  This event is to promotoe prevention of childhood diabetes and "outdoor movement". Nut Run 5k also on Saturday March 1st at the Pecan Store in Sahuarita AZ (just outside the city limits of Tucson).   This is a fun one because you get to run through the pecan fields - and it is the ...

The weather in Tucson right now says only one thing: "Do something outside!"  That is why many of my recents posts are about something you can do outdoors in Tucson right now!  Along with the many organized events around town - such as car shows, parades, running and cycling events - there are many walking and hiking trails that are just waiting for visitors and residents alike to see what it's all about! One of the most famous "hills" in Tucson, next to A Mountain, is Tumamoc Hill on the westside of town. It is claimed to be one of the best walks in North America.  The Hill is a natural preserve that is maintained by the UA and should be respected by all visitors.  It is a short walk - only 1.5 miles - but it is a steep 600 foot incline. 5 Things To Know About Tumamoc Hill:   There is ...
