Sedona Winter SolsticeIt is all about the shadows!On the Winter Solstice, the sun rises at the most eastern part of its journey along the horizon. During the Summer Solstice, the sun will rise on the most north-eastern part of the horizon. Each extreme will showcase the shadow that the sun creates.Coffeepot Rock Coffeepot Rock is the perfect example to document. It sits approximately 300º west-northwest in directly in front of my house. **The sun rises in the east at approximately 120º east-southeast on the Winter Solstice, which is the exact opposite of 300º. So the shadows show where the sun is on the horizon, each and every day it rises. Because Sedona gets around 300 days of sunshine, this can be documented a little more easily.
