For all of you who are looking to buy a home in the Prescott AZ area, I wanted to share a quick update on activity in the Mortgage Market: Wednesday - February 12   The Mortgage Bankers Association reported today that its Market Composite Index, a measure of total loan application volume, fell by 2% in the latest week despite a decline in home loan rates in the past month. The refinance index declined by 0.2%, while the purchase index fell by 5%. The Market Composite Index hit its lowest level at the end of 2013 since December of 2000. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) released its latest quarterly report revealing that a vast majority of homeowners have seen significant gains in equity over the past two years. Yep!  winter is coming in Arizona with cold temps and threat of snow today.  Even the cat is burrowing in for added warmth!  Okay, okay, I know 13 isn't a big deal to many of you in the northern climes, yet we are in Arizona!  A sunshine state! The Prescott Arizona real estate market, and I suspect many other local markets, offers challenges for Buyers looking to buy Quad Cities homes.  Inventory of homes for sale remains low.  A total of 1395 homes are currently listed in the Prescott Area Association of Realtors Association: Prescott offers 670 homes for sale, 231 in Prescott Valley, 147 in Chino Valley and Paulden, 121 in Dewey-Humboldt, and the remaining in the Yavapai County areas outside of the Quad Cities.
