Encouraging Growth numbers for the Southwest Valley

Encouraging news for the Southwest Valley has come out, population figures show the Southwest Valley kept growing in 2009, although much slower than in recent boom years. According to the Arizona Department of Commerce, Avondale, Buckeye, Goodyear, Litchfield Park and Tolleson grew by an average of 2.3 percent in 2009. That's down from a 7 percent average a year earlier. Over the past decade, Southwest Valley cities have nearly tripled in size. There are 203,625 people living in the region's five cities now, up from 70,115 people in 2000. Avondale alone has nearly 77,000 residents today. AVONDALE Population: 76,900.
