Lights Out Flagstaff Come Celebrate the most incredible night in Flagstaff!! For two nights, homes, businesses, and city buildings will turn off their lights and enjoy free public astronomy programs.   Come to the  Heritage Square on Friday, March 28th at 7:30pm to watch the lights go out. Telescopes will be available for public viewing, provided by the Coconino Astronomical Society.   On Saturday, March 29th, Lowell Observatory will offer FREE admission after 5pm   Flagstaff is deemed a dark city, so you'll notice, there aren't any billboards around with lights. The city lights are more of an orange in color, so they don't put off light pollution into the air. Sky gazing at night in Flagstaff is a magical experience. Come enjoy this special event!! Lights Out Flagstaff

Northern Arizona University is opening its new Convention Center & Hotel. Students at NAU's The School of Hotel  Management will being doing their internship at this new facility located on the campus at the corner of Milton Ave. and Butler. The campus is walking distance to the very heart of Downtown Flagstaff and should be able to draw a number of events to Flagstaff. It should also boost the number of visits for both winter and summer activities. In addition to tourism, the real estate market should benefit.

Flagstaff Historic Walk -- Sunday, May 27, 2007 This Sunday presents a great opportunity to learn some Flagstaff history and take a stroll during a quiet time in historic downtown Flagstaff.Local historians Richard and Sherry Mangum, dressed in period costumes, will lead a free 90 minute Historic Walking Tour of downtown. Reservations are required. Yes, these are the authors of Flagstaff Hikes and Sedona Hikes - in their many editions. These are the best hiking books because they give a realistic picture of the difficulty of hikes with great maps. Richard Mangum was a lawyer and judge in Flagstaff for many years until he "retired" to his true calling of introducing the beauties of his hometown to all of us Flagstaff newbies. The details:Location:Flagstaff Visitors Center1 E. Route 66Fla...

Here it is! The center of downtown activities -- all year round (though it is chilly on New Year's Eve for the pine cone drop). Political rallies, music events, dog weddings (it's true, the mayor performed the ceremony), and Movies on the Square -- every Friday from May to Sept. Stop by and you're likely to find something interesting. Sunday it is the kickoff point for Bike to Work Week -- find a free helmet for your kid and a used bike for you. Within a block -- Italian food (x2), western food, southwestern food, Mexican food, great hamburgers, and sushi. Not to mention a few art galleries, trinket shops, and an outdoor supply store (or three).
