I recently read an article in the Arizona Republic, and it brought back a memory about homes in the Chandler neighborhood we live in.  When we first moved into our home in 1996, we never even thought about water pressure.  Well, a few years ago, we started having to replace all the gaskets and seals in our bathroom faucets.  We had always had issues with our shower heads leaking shortly after being newly installed, and we also had to replace the faucet in our sink at least 3 times. One day, we were talking with our neighbor, and this subject came up.  Our neighbor informed us that he had to replace every plumbing fixture in their home.  When we asked why, our neighbor explained that the water pressure was too high, and it ruined all the fixtures. Back to the article, it said that the re...

Buyers are really starting to buy lower priced Chandler Homes, Gilbert Homes, and Phoenix Homes.  Statistics show that 4,215 resale transactions were recorded this February, compared to 2,690 resale transactions recorded in 2008.  This is an increase of 57%. The median resale price for Maricopa County in February was $133,000, down almost $100,000 from the median price of $230,000 in February 2008.  The median foreclosed home value in February of 2009 was $164,470, significantly higher than the median resale price.  According to Jay Butler, ASU Realty Studies Director, this is due to the higher end homes going into foreclosure while buyers are purchasing the less expensive homes. Has anyone seen this new show on TV Land called "High School Reunion"?  The premise of the show is to get high school classmates back together for their 20 year reunion in Hawaii and see what happens.  I typically don't write posts like this one, but it peaked my interest for several reasons. First of all, this season's episode is about the Chandler High School class of 1988, and I currently live in Chandler, AZ.  The high school is about 5 miles from my home.  Secondly, I actually know one of the individuals on the show.  I used to work with him, and have seen him as recently as about two months ago, but had no idea that he did this show. Anyway, it got me to thinking about the days gone by, what it was like in high school, and what people thought about me in high school.  In the show,...

I was just reading a newspaper article the other day, realizing that Summer is just around the corner, and thought this information can help all of us who live in Arizona, as well as other sunshine states.  Thanks goes to Sue Doerfler for sharing this information in her article in the Arizona Republic. We all know that utility bills are continuing to increase year-in and year-out, and the price of gas has already started to inch it's way up, and everyone is feeling the effect of the recession.  Hopefully these ideas can assist you in cutting some of your cooling expenses this summer, as I sit here on a day that may get up to 90 degrees. First of all, you can plant shade trees on the east and west sides of your home.  This will not only enhance the look of your landscaping, but will help...

With over 41,000 homes on the market in Maricopa County, and almost 1,800 homes in Chandler, buyers have more than a few choices.  This has caused many home buyers to become paralyzed and unable to make a decision.  Here are 5 helpful tips to get off the fence and buy that perfect home. 1.  After you have chosen an area you want to live in, start screening homes based on square footage.  Price per square foot still remains a very important factor, and you can definately find a home that offers more room for the money. 2.  You can find homes of similar size that offer more bathrooms.  When looking for a home, having a bathroom for every family member is a great feature.  No more having to wait to shower in the morning! 3.  Find out where homes are located in context of the neighborhood....

Q. Is it important to include photos with your listing? A. Well, according to my own experience, and information provided by the NAR, as well as several op-ed pieces written by people from all walks of life that I have read by they are... So why is it that there are still so many listings without photos? I decided to take a look at realtor.com this morning.  No, I do not currently own a home.  Yes, I'm in the market, albeit passively at this time.  I have a realtor, but sometimes, I just like to see what else it out there.  The only criteria I entered was the city- Chandler, AZ.  Realtor.com came back with 2,431 listings.  Realtor.com lets you sort the results by Price (high to low, or low to high), 'Featured Tours', and 'Number of Photos'.  I was curious, so I sorted by number of photo...
