Camp Verde Cornfest Knowing how good the corn from Camp Verde is, it was time to check out Cornfest and bring some corn home.  Of course, I have already had an ear and I couldn't beleive how fresh and sweet it is. It is as if you could go into your backyard and chop an ear off the stalk! The craft fair was fabulous. All local vendors selling their goods that they made with loving care.  I thoroughly enjoyed talking with the local residents. These people are the salt of the earth. Everything we bought we sampled!  Carrot Cake jam tastes like carrot cake! Of course my favorite nut is the pecan...and also my favorite piece of pie. But no, this is the 26 year celebration of Cornfest in the town of Camp Verde ARIZONA! Yes! That is right! Camp Verde has a history of corn farming. Hauser and Hauser sells corn by the ear at their roadside stand. I have had really good sweet corn from outside the city of Chicago in the farmland.  This Camp Verde corn is as good as the best in the country. Oh! The place to be in Arizona this weekend is the Camp Verde Pecan, Wine and Antique Festival. Can you believe this is the 11th year?! It's grown to be quite the event, and I've heard that this has been a particularly good year for pecans. Wineries from around Arizona will be participating, with good representation from our excellent local  Sedona  and Verde Valley  Wineries. There will be music at 4 different locations throughout the 3 day festival, seminars, yummy food, a pecan farm tour, pecan pancake breakfast (Saturday), and of course all sorts of pecans to sample.
