Isn't this thing as pretty as a new toy!!  It is new....but not a toy.  In July 2021 we wrote a blog about a new subdivision starting in Searcy AR on Country Club Road. Here is what the blog said.  Go here if you want to see the sign.  https://activerain.com/droplet/FHl5Welcome to a new subdivision coming to Searcy AR.  This sign has just gone up at the Corner of Sawmill Road and Country Club Road on the West side of Searcy AR.  The land has been in the Phillips family for many years and is now to be turned into a subdivision by Clay Hite, a popular builder in this area.  Hite has already completed several subdivisions in our town but this one may be the grandest yet.The sign says it is to be Belmont Estates, a grand sounding name.  We'll have to find out more from him about the name, t...

Stop and StareThat's what I did when I saw these in the window of a building at the corner of Beebe Capps and Sawmill Road in Searcy AR.  The glare sorta hurts seeing the detail in these pieces of paper that covers the window but check it out for yourself.Perhaps it is intended to be art.....but I think it is accidental art from paper that has been damaged.  My favorite is the center one which reminds me of a cowboy from the waist down with his guns showing!Interesting for sure!!!

WOW!How did they get the picture to look like this?  This was a long time ago, approximately in the 70's, when no one had tricky cell phones that do amazing things.  The young man was in the tree and another young man took the picture.  I stumbled upon it the other day and was once again stunned that this picture was made right in my own front yard by my own kids!  Looks like a snow covered tree in the still of the night....which it was not.  It is worth seeing again.

This pretty little house that once had a front porch is on its way down.  While driving by I did my usual OMG reaction to seeing this one almost gone.  And then I started remembering that its neighboring house was already gone!  So, Searcy Sleuths, what was the neighboring house?  Ok.....here's the picture.  The White County Court House still has the two pictures on line. The one on the left is gone.....with no signs of it left.  They are/were both owned by the Dale family and David Dale had told me they were going to remove the rock house for more room for the dress shops that now operate on each side of these two houses.  Several years ago this was the location of Francis Dale's Antiques and I bought lots of antiques from them.  The grandchildren have turned the shops into dress shops ...

Another one bites the dustThis lovely little house with so much beautiful wood construction has been eliminated.  I loved the way it looked with stained glass windows and a combination of brick and frame with a matching building with car storage at the back.   The thing that I liked best, however, was the attention the previous owner had paid to making it comfortable for her pet cats.  Several years ago I talked to the builder that she had hired to do special features for the animals.  She loved animals so much that she let the an animal society operate a thrift shop, Paws Inn, in the back building.  The address was 207 N Oak.This picture, though, will help us remember a lovely small home.  I got it from the internet.

Found.  Broken tombstone. My friend was working on a fixer-upper when he dug into an old storage pit.  He found this old tombstone and wonders if anyone knows the family or how the stone got into this spot.  It is definitely old.  The top part says, "Mishey A wife of R F Edwards."The bottom part says "Born June 23 1853  Died April 19 1903."The address where the stone was found was 805 N Birch in Searcy.  My friend wants to return it to the family if anyone can give information regarding a family.  And he would give it to the Historical Society if they wanted it.

For sale by owner signThis sign has been a source of interest and humor.  At first this was just a big sign attached to a tree and folks wondered what it was going to say. Then the sign as you see above appeared.  It is unusual, for sure, and we are all eager to assist our service members.  As a REALTOR I don't usually feature a for sale by owner, but I am putting this online with the permission of the seller. Here's the thing that has won us all over.  THE DOG!  While driving by we noticed a dog near the sign.  OK.  Nice dog.  The next time we go by the dog has moved to another spot near the sign.  Each day the dog is in another spot. Then.....and then.....the dog has climbed the sign!  That feisty pooch guards that sign and we who drive by so often, smile each time.  I love the creativi...
