Pangburn Girls' Basketball Team 1953Another one of the 12 teams that were entered in the 1953 Basketball tournament held at Rose Bud Arkansas is shown above.  Their fans are listed below the picture.  We have put almost all of the teams on blogs so go back and see all of them if you'd like.  We have one more to go....Rose Bud.Either the girls at Pangburn were short or the coach was extremely tall!  Look through the group and see if you know anyone.

I love this picture!  It is part of the Dale VanPatten collection of pictures and historic documents.  I like the old house in the background, the kids looking so well-behaved, and the teacher standing beside the group. The old style-thing shows up again.  Girl's hair style was short-hair-with-bangs straight across the forehead.  The 8th girl on back row (left to right) reminds me of me because she is taller than most kids, has serious scared look, and would never be a trouble maker!  Boys mostly had overalls.  Some had bare feet. Also look at girls 6 and 9, back row.  They have faces that appear deformed but is probably falling leaves coming down just as the picture was snapped.  Also, the little boy on the front right must have moved just as the picture was snapped.I hope you enjoy this...

Maybe I'm a little nuts.  Mention some other's agents's listing?  Another company's listing?  Yeah, nuts! But look at this old house for sale in Pangburn Arkansas.  It is reported to be on the Historic Register of Homes, built in 1898, was once the telephone company and is known as the "Boggs Home." Someone has taken an old house and dolled it up to have lots of charm.  I especially like this inside picture of the house. This picture shows the stairs going up, the old boards on the wall and makes you think of sending the kids to bed and hoping you don't have to climb up there to check on them. The price is $105,000 and I can sell it to you if you'd like to live in the trout fishing haven of Pangburn Arkansas.

Have you ever heard of a Tonsil Clinic?  I am not making this up.  It happened in Arkansas and probably other places.  Sixty Pangburn Arkansas students underwent tonsillectomies at their school on Oct 17, 1930! A most vivid article was published by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette on Dec. 10, 2000.  It was so vivid that I saved it.  I wish I could publish it but they'd sue me.  The article says,  "The school became a hospital for a couple of days.  Classrooms became operating rooms;  Army cots were brought in; and the auditoriums became the recovery room where (some) patients stayed overnight.  Parents cared for their own children following surgery."  One student said in the article, "It seemed like half of Pangburn was there.  Several patients swallowed their tongues.  It was a mess with...
